I was walking down the street.

"Well, well, well," I heard from behind me. It was Johnny, the one I told on. I turn around to face him and see that there are two other big guys standing next to him. "It's nice to see you again Ella. I'm gonna have fun. I always have fun around little kids." I just stare at him.

"What do you want?" I finally asked. I knew exactly what he wanted. He wanted to beat me up. He was mad that I told the adults that he beat up Ortiz. Ortiz didn't do anything bad, he just talked back to Johnny, but Johnny has a temper, and fists.

"My parents always told me that I should learn from my mistakes. I think you should learn from your mistakes too," he told me.

"I didn't make a mistake," I said. "I made the right choice." His stupid grin was wiped off of his face. I talked back. I was doing what Ortiz did. That annoyed Johnny.

"I told you not to tell anybody about my little situation with Ortiz," Johnny started yelling at me. "It was none of your business. I had to teach him a lesson."

I bit my lip. I was terrified of Johnny, but I had to stand up for myself. "By beating him up? He looks like he got hit by a car. And he didn't do anything to you," I said.

"He mouthed of to me. He exists. He breathes my air," said Johnny. His rude friends laughed meanly. I looked at them and noticed for the first time that they had guns. I slightly gasped because of my terror.

A girl stepped out from beside a building. I was surprised and the guys saw my eyes move over to her. They turned and looked at her, as did I. She had a scratched face and a black eye, but the guys still turned around. When they looked away the girl smirked in amusement.

"So, Ella, what have you got to say for yourself?" Johnny asked me. "Is there any reason I shouldn't teach you a lesson too?"

"Three guys against one girl. That seems about even," the girls said, as she walked towards us. I could see fury on her face.

"Shut up, chick," one of the boys snapped at her. "You better get out of here if you know what's good for you."

"Can't," the girl said, walking to stand next to me. I looked at her in alarm. "Actually, I think kicking your stupid butts would be good for me."

They all laughed and the girl smirked again.

"Grab big mouth," said Johnny, and the other two moved towards her. The girl smirked again.

She moved so fast. With no warning, she snapped a high kick right into Johnny's chest. I hear a crack and Johnny choked, looking shocked, and fell backward.

Johnny's friends rushed her at once. She whirled and grabbed the shotgun out of one's hands. Holding its barrel, she swung it against the side of his head. I heard a crack and the guy staggered sideways as a bright red flow of blood came from his scalp.

She glanced over at me and I realized I hadn't moved at all. I'm terrified. I don't know what I'm scared of, there's just so much action and violence that I'm scared.

"Run!" she yelled at me. "Get out of here!" I didn't move for a second, but when I did, I went fast. I even felt dust flying up around my feet as I ran.

I ran down the street and turned around. I was in a place where I couldn't see them, but I could make out a couple of words.

"You're-be-sorry," I hear Johnny say.

"-I won't," the girl said. Then I heard her running and gunshots go off.

This was my first story for Maximum Ride. I hope you liked it :)

I had to write this story because I have't gotten a chance to read past the 1st book yet, so I didn't know enough stuff yet.
