A/n: CURSE YOU, STUPID WEBSITE!! For some IDIOTIC reason, everything is in bold. For the love of ... -tries not to swear- granola... So I haven't written very many inspired drabbles in a while. I have been submitting entrees dutifully every other week in the contest, just none of them have been that great and I know it. So far I've tied for third a couple times, which isn't bad. Still, I know I'm not doing my best work so it can be a little painful. It's good to get in the habit of just pumping stuff out, though, whether it's decent or crappy. So here's a little something, if anyone cares to look. Beholder The white one brushed her unfurled fingers against the night. I watched as her ivory body unfolded in the dark, opened before the starlit sky. She danced for them, for the tiny yellow specks drifting above our heads. Spellbound beneath their gentle glow, she became the quintessence of poise and beauty. She moved like nothing in this world, nothing but the simplest, loveliest wonders. Now she was the long white sails of a lean seaborne vessel, swelling with the wind in soft rippling curves. Now she was the pale ruffled feathers of a gull, quick and flighty, lighter than air. Now she was the trailing lace of a billowing wedding gown, crumpled with doubt and hemmed with hope. Now she was again Victoria, the plain white queen, her still form silhouetted before the gold-rimmed dawn. She turned to bid the stars farewell and the enchantment ended. A final bow, and then she was gone. She had danced for them, for the tiny yellow specks. She would never dance for me. Not if I didn't watch her. In secret, of course. A/n: I had no idea what to do for the title. It occurred to me recently that maybe it should be Beholden instead. Maybe. Oh and this is for the theme "secret." I had such issues with tenses in this thing. I wanted to keep it in past tense, but then I kind of wanted to switch to present for a second, but that wouldn't make sense unless I switched the whole thing to present... so it was a mess. So tired. I stayed up late working on this, and I'm trying to get on an early schedule for college. I have 8 AM classes EVERY DAY of the week!! Unbelievable...
