Petey peeked out from the corner of his eye to a still sleeping Gary, and sighed in quit relief. He crept up from his bed and hid his journal in the nook between the bookcase and the wall. His secret hiding spot. Petey knew he would never find it there, and it was a good thing. All of Petey's secrets and fears were in this book, and the thought of Gary finding them made him sick to his stomach. Petey changed out of his pajamas and into his school vest and slacks. Gary stirred in bed and Petey shook him slowly. "Hey, Gary, get up, school". Gary moaned and crawled out of bed. "Femme-boy, why do you insist on touching me every morning, do you love me that much"? Gary joked. "Don't flatter yourself, Gary", Petey blushed, "I don't want you to get in trouble for missing is all". Gary smiled his crooked smile up at Petey. "Like I said, you love me". Gary went over to the dresser changing into his clothes. "Who can blame you, I'm irresistible." Petey blushed looking down, Petey did find Gary irresistible. He loved Gary. But did Gary love him?

Gary laid in his room, bored out of his mind. Petey still had a whole class to go and Gary didn't have anyone to make fun of. Gary loved making fun of him, he loved doing a lot of things to Petey. In fact he loved doing everything with Petey. He would even admit that he loved Petey. But Gary refused to get close to anyone. He always hurt them and he didn't want to hurt Petey. Besides Petey wouldn't love a guy that picked on him all the time. Gary wasn't good at expressing his feelings, especially to Petey. Gary sighed and got up from the bed, grabbing his baseball off the nightstand as he did so. Maybe he'd go and torture some kids with it. The ball slipped out of Gary's hands and rolled under the bookcase. "Dammit" Gary sighed as he bent down to feel for it. Out of the corner of his eye he saw something. Picking it up, he noticed it had Petey's name on it. Smiling sinisterly, Gary opened to the first page. Oh, Petey's journal, this is gonna be great. Gary read each page slowly, discovering juicy secrets about Petey he never knew before. Gary turned to the last entry and his heart stopped as he read it.

I don't know how much more I can take of keeping this secret. Every time I look at him, I want to tell him. To get it off my chest once and for all. I LOVE YOU, GARY SMITH! But I'm kidding myself if it has a happy ending. Gary hates me and I know he'll never love me like I love him. What am I gonna do?

Gary could feel himself grinning from ear to ear. Petey did love him like Gary loved him. Gary heard the door handle jingle and he quickly shoved the book onto one of the shelves. Jumping on his bed and pretending to be bored out of his mind.

Petey stepped into the room shutting the door. Looking over at Gary, he smiled slightly, "Hey Gary, what's up"? Gary tried to play cool but his voice cracked unconvincingly. "Nothing, just bored". Petey laid his book on the desk and turned to Gary, "Well, what do you want to do"? Petey asked, bored as well. Gary smiled an idea coming to his mind. He slowly stood grinning eagerly as he stepped toward Petey. "I have an idea". Petey hesitated looking over at Gary, suspicion in his eyes. Gary was acting a little weird. "Petey, I found your journal", Gary blushed lightly. Petey's heart stopped and he sputtered. "W-what…no…" Petey backed away from Gary, tears forming in his eyes. "Petey I love you, too" Gary smiled crookedly. Petey's eyes widened and he smiled slowly. Gary leaned down and kissed him, a slow tender kiss that brought all his feelings of love into him.
