Spoilers for Season Five.

It was so easy. So easy to sow the seeds of doubt in her mind. With a little trauma, a little kindness, and just a few pushes with her magic, Morgana easily secured the mind of the queen as her own.

It was laughably easy. The woman was but a blade of grass before her own will, once she had gained access to Gwen's trust. And with that control, she came a step closer to gaining what was rightfully hers.

The throne.

It was so deliciously ironic that Arthur's love was betraying him. The queen barely even knew what she was doing, any suggestion the sorceress made was like a command from her lord.

Morgana had stuck a thorn of hate in the queen's mind. Now, all the queen could think to do was kill her husband. And she hardly knew why.

It was so delightful to have her wishes obeyed without a second thought. Morgana laid the first plan. How simple it was with the help of the queen.

Of course, even the most simple plans failed.

Despite her minion queen's best attempts, she failed disastrously at first task of rethreading Arthur's saddle. And then the Pendragon survived.

Morgana spent an evening cursing her age old enemy. Why should Arthur live, despite all his sins, as a king, when she lived in poverty? And Emrys, the name she feared beyond all else. Her doom, her future. It was always he that foiled her plans. She was sure of it.

She arranged for another meeting with the puppet queen. Her presence was needed to plant thoughts in Gwen's mind. She chose poison for Arthur's demise. Not nearly painful enough, but foolproof.

As she handed the poison over to the woman usurping her throne, she gently tipped an image into her mind.

However loathe she was to admit it, for the time being, she needed Guinevere. She had the trust of the foolish people. And if anybody suspected she had murdered the king, then all would be ruined.

So she gently eased in a thought which made her blood thrill with excitement, and the promise of revenge.

Merlin.

Merlin the traitor.

It was perfect. The king would die. And his noisy, prying, infuriating servant would be blamed for it. She could just imagine his horror. She could see him being thrown into the cells, while above him, his precious king lay dying.

So perfect. She was almost surprised by her own genius.

The queen resisted the idea that Merlin was a traitor, almost more so than the thought of poisoning her beloved husband.

But she was useless against Morgana's strength.

The smirk which tipped her lips as she watched the queen stride up the street, bottles clutched in her hands, was full of the promise of revenge.

The king would die, at the hand of his wife. And his loyal servant would perish, not by his side, but better still, accused of poisoning his lord.

Morgana turned away, resolving to present at the execution.

So, there we are. I don't like the fact that Gwen is now evil. I really wish they had resolved whatever was going on in the last episode, because I just feel it's out of character, and taking over the series when we could be having some episodes which took us closer to the reveal. Anyway, this is my take on what would have been happening if Gwen were enchanted, which seems more likely, but a bit convenient.

Reviews and suggestions would be great.
