Hey! Hi. Author's Note time. I forgot it before. To all 52 people who read this in the last 14 hours, you rock my socks. Anyways. I'm working on a couple multi chapter HP/IY crossovers, and to deal with writers block and uncertainty I busted out this little baby as a rough draft for a scene in one of them. If the fic is ever published, this will be part of it.
READ THIS::: Thanks. ok. So what I'm really looking for is constructive criticism on the writing style. I'm driving myself nuts over it. Please let me know what you think of this scene, it'd be a huge help, and hopefully you'll see a much longer, much better written fic soon.
Disclaimer: I hold no rights or ownership to either Harry Potter, InuYasha, or any associated media, so on and so forth.
Thanks y'all!
That night, Kagome came to see him in the hospital wing.
"Oh, no." She groaned when she reached his bed. "I didn't even think to bring you a gift!" She was looking at the pile of candy and get well cards on his bedside table.
"It's alright, Kagome. Honestly." He said. "After all, you did save my life."
Kagome shook her head. "Yeah, but only after you saved mine first." She pouted.
It was a strange thing to feel bad about, Harry thought. As if he really needed more candy or another card. He almost said that, but then had another idea.
"I'll tell you what." Kagome looked at him wide eyed. "Tomorrow's Hogsmead, but Pomfrey won't let me go because of my leg." She followed his head nod, looking at his leg still covered in salve and wrapped in bandages. He wiggled his toes up and down to make her laugh.
"See? So you heal my leg so I can go tomorrow, and when we're there I'll buy you an actual butterbeer. Then we'll call it even. Sound good?" She was still smiling when he'd finished, so Harry figured it must have been a good idea.
Kagome pretended to look around for Madam Pomfrey, tapping her chin uncertainly. "Well… You know that I'm not supposed to, but… If it's for my first ever butterbeer… then, yeah. Okay!" They grinned at each other while Kagome laid her hands gently over his bandaged leg. She closed her eyes and Harry watched as she started to glow.
They decided to leave Harry's leg wrappings on, so that Pomfrey would think he'd just healed faster than expected. But since the pain was gone, Harry felt no need to stay in bed. Thus, he and Kagome spent the next several hours acting out silly movie scenes and throwing candy at each other.
The next morning, Ron and Hermione gushed over how quickly he'd been released ("Bloody brilliant, mate. Thought you were going to miss Hogsmead!"; "It really is quite extraordinary, Harry."). No one noticed the secretive smile that passed between Harry and Kagome when they walked into the Three Broomsticks. Kagome decided that she liked butterbeer, but realized that afternoon that she liked it better when she was tasting it on Harry's lips.
THE END
