Episode Debrief: Shu Heller is a young man with no memories from his past, as he tries to recollect them he is approached by two teens who ask him a simple question that could either help them or hurt them.
It was raining. Pouring down heavy as rain drops hitting the ground as if they were shoes clapping against the pavement. Speaking of which they were a set of feet clapping onto the wet pavement and into the puddles formed all over the concrete.
A young man walking in the rain with no umbrella. He was wearing a greyish black jacket with white outlines, with a grey hoodie underneath and dark blue jeans with black sneakers. He was walking through the city without a care in the world. He blankly stared at the space ahead of him ignoring the bright colors of the city and the sounds of cars strolling by every few minutes.
That teenager man kid is me.
My name is Shu and I am nothing but a curse.
Don't worry, I won't give these small dialogues of mine to bore you… if anything I'm only going to use it to explain characters that I've met in my life.
I am a someone with no memories. No memories of who I was, or where I came from. And this is my story.
My unbecoming.
Shu was walking down the street as he came back from the cemetery outside of town. He keeps going there for some reason and yet he can't figure out why. He doesn't visit the dead or anything, he just stands there at the gate staring at the entrance.
'Why do I keep going there, and why can't remember anything about it?' Is it someone I've lost, didn't save, and why keep having this gruesome image appear in my damn head?'
He was running, he was running down the hallway, it was dark and there were giant tubes full of liquid and something inside the tanks everywhere. He was being dragged by someone a little older than him, maybe a year or so.
Behind them, were scientists and guards with… knives and guns. He couldn't really see but when they stopped running, he was staring at what looked to be an escape pod of some kind…
Flash
He heard a gun click from behind him and before he knew he instantly pushed the companions beside him into the pod and they entered the glass door closed and they banged on it to open up.
Bang!
Shu!
"The only thing I can remember from there is the sound of a gunshot and whatever happened after that earned me the scar on my neck. And who was calling me?" he asked himself, sounding like a lost puppy. He had asked himself these questions time and time again. He can't remember anything from anything before he was 10 years old.
No matter how many times he tried, he ends up with same image over and over again. Trying to figure out who he was or who were those kids he pushed into the pod.
He was broken out of his thoughts when he felt someone bump into him. He heard something drop on the ground and it was a book.
"Oh… um sorry mister." He looked down and saw a boy about a year younger than him or so with dark green hair and symmetrical freckles on his cheeks. He also had green eyes to match his hair. He then picked up the book off the ground and noticed that it was wet from landing in a puddle.
"Sorry kid, I ruined your book."
"It's okay… it was already ruined from earlier."
'From earlier…'
"Deku!" Shu turned his attention to the voice that shouted from behind the green-haired kid. Running up to them was a girl with short brown hair, round face, brown eyes and rosy cheeks. Her face was etched with worry as she stared at the green-haired kid.
"Ochaco…" The boy called out brokenly.
"You need to be careful where your going, and don't stray off too far okay, I almost lost you." The brunette said with worry laced in her voice as the greenette just stared at her with a empty look.
"Okay." He replied brokenly. The brunette grasped her friends hand and then turned to Shu to apologize.
"I'm really sorry that we bumped into you mister." Ochaco apologized but Shu remained blankly at them before he ask a question.
"What's got you down in the dumps kid, why the long face?" he asked Deku as the boy stared at the ground not even listening. "Deku was it?" he asked earning a flinch from the greenette while the brunette narrowed eyes at him in anger.
"Don't call him that! Only I do because…"
"Settle down, I only called him that because you did when you were coming up the street but from the look of this book right here, even though its burnt and soaked I can still see the name but I wasn't sure if that was your nickname or something."
"Sorry." Ochaco apologized gazing at him with a frown.
"No matter. So again what's the problem?" Shu asked wanting to know the problem with this kid.
"Do you think someone like me could become a hero?" he asked after a long silence, as his gaze remained at the ground.
"Yes I do." Shu answered wondering where this was going.
"…Even if I was quirkless…?" he asked again with his shoulders shaking, waiting to be denied with the same answer as always over and over again. He could feel Ochaco squeeze his hand in comfort as they waited for his answer.
So that was it? This kid in front of him wanted to be a pro hero like all the others.
"…Does it matter?" he asked earning a look of confusion from them both.
"What…?"
"I said does it matter… meaning if you were quirkless or not." Shu started before he took off his hoodie revealing his silver eyes to them. "From what I've seen being a hero requires a powerful quirk right?" he asked as they both nodded their heads.
"Wrong."
"Wrong?"
"Quirks are not everything in some places or half of society. Tell me what are your dreams kid?"
"I…I want to be a hero like the others… because I want to help people… because it's the right thing to do." He started off, beside him Ochaco smiled softly at his words before she saw him shaking and knew that he was about to have a breakdown. "But…but….everyone… classmates… teachers… my former friend…"
Shu noticed that Ochaco eyes burned with hatred at the word former friend and her right fist clenched at her side. Shu raised his eyebrow wondering if something happened between them.
"Even my own mother…" Tears started streaming down his face as his shoulders shook even more and his voice sounded more wobbly. "They all told me that it was too dangerous… that I was just a kid with an impossible dream…. And I'm looked with pity or disgust… then I met All Might."
"Even him… even he said that I should… *sob*…" he couldn't speak anymore as he started to openly cry, the rain blending with his tears.
"Never meet your heroes." Shu turned to Ochaco as she spoke with her arms around Izuku's frame as she rubbed his back in comfort.
"I think it's stupid." He said and right both kids winced at his harsh words, knowing that he was just like the others until he spoke once more. "I think's it stupid for you to think that you can't do it. If the number one pro hero says you can't do it then he has no idea what he's talking about."
"…What?" They both perked up at his words in confusion.
"Tell me kid, how long have you been quirkless."
"All my life, I was revealed to be one when I turned four." Deku answered as Shu nodded then turned his head to Ochaco.
"I have a quirk actually, it's called Zero gravity. It allows me to take away the gravity of whatever I touch."
"And your friends with him?" Shu pretended to sound skeptical as Ochaco tightened her grip on Deku.
"I don't care whether he's quirkless or not… Izuku's is a kind boy and the most selfless person I've ever met. He's my best friend… I won't let anybody hurt him. He's more of a hero than anyone else."
'Ochaco…' Izuku stared at his friend who admitted that she protect him no matter what happened. The feeling in his chest became filled with warmth at her words.
"Kid… my opinion may matter or not but… you can become a hero." Shu said causing both teenagers eyes to widened in shock.
"…What?"
"You just gave me your answer. You're not becoming a hero for money or fame for anything of that other selfish reasons, like Mount Lady or Endeavor, you want to become a hero because it's the right thing to do. It doesn't matter whether your quirkless or not. You can still be a hero if you got the determination for it and I'm not talking about local heroes like cops and firefighters… I mean those pro heroes I hear about all the time." Shu said as he leaned down, kneeling on one knee and pressed a finger to Izuku's chest.
"It's not about the quirk kid, it's about your willpower, determination and what you believe in. But first… you must believe in yourself that you can become one. That's the most important thing about your dream… you want to be a hero you must believe in yourself first to accomplish it. It won't be easy because of your status but as long as you got the will and determination to do it, I believe you can become one, hell you may even be the first quirkless hero out there."
Izuku just stared at him with shock in his eyes at hearing his words. He just bumped into a random stranger and thought he would look down on him with pity but no. This teenager not only gave him some words of encouragement but he also told him five words that he so desperately wanted to hear from someone for a long time.
All those doubts and words from others putting him down, were push aside because of this person in front of him.
"And you…" Shu turned back to Ochaco. "You believe he can be a hero too right?"
"Without a doubt." She answered truthfully, no hint of deceit within her eyes.
"Then that's all I got to say." Shu then stood up and held out his hands towards them as they both took it, pulled upwards to their feet. "Give it your all and prove them wrong kid." Shu then handed him the book that was dropped earlier. "Work hard and be the hero you want to be."
Izuku took the book staring at it with his eyes glistening a little before he felt something atop of his head as did, Shu ruffled his hair a bit.
"Go for it."
"Right! I'll do my best and work hard to be the first quirkless hero. I'll become the number 1 hero." Izuku said with determination as Ochaco nodded alongside him.
"And I'll be alongside you, helping every step of the way. Let's become heroes together Izuku." Ochaco said pumping her fist in the air.
"Hai." Izuku said before turning to Shu. "T-thank you… thank you for…" Izuku tried to say it but tears were starting to stream down his face again, Ochaco took over as she squeezed his hands with her own.
"Thank you for helping us mister…"
"Shu. And no mister, I am a teenager like you two… 17 years old." Shu explained as he ruffled both of their heads and walked past them. He waved a hand in the air signaling them. "See you later and remember what I told you… Believe in yourself." And away he was.
"He's a nice person isn't he?"
"Yeah, even though he showed no emotion he did give you some encouragement."
"Hey, do you… believe that I can do it too… that I can become—" Izuku started but was cut off as Ochaco pressed a finger to his lips earning a blush from the greenette.
"I know you can do it Deku… I told you, no matter what happens and wherever we are…" The brunette then started blushing as well as her eyes shifted away from his own. "…You're my hero too."
"…Thank you." He said as he rushed forward and gave her a tight hug, the brunette was stunned for a moment dropping her umbrella but soon reciprocated the hug leaned her cheek against his. Neither of them cared for anything but each other at that moment as the rain continued pouring down on them.
They only thing that mattered to them was each other.
Shu arrived at an apartment building that was about five stories tall and 12 windows wide on each floor with a set of stairs at the end. He walked up the stairs and up to the fourth floor where his room was located down at the end of the first room on the floor.
Arriving at his door, he looked up and noticed that the sign above his door noted that someone was already inside, causing him to raise an eyebrow. Shu then narrowed his eyes as he opened the door with a heavy kick echoing a loud bang as he then jumped into the room. Rolling along the ground, he grabbed a gun that was on the side of the table and aimed it at his attacker when he heard a sound in the kitchen.
"Don't move." He said with a quiet but deadly tone. All he earned in return was a sigh escape someone's vocals as the perpetrator turned on the lights revealing themselves in the apartment.
"You need to stop pointing that thing at me everytime I enter the apartment…" The voice said with a sigh. The lights revealed a young adult catgirl with a slim build. She had golden-amber eyes with pink hair consisting of a long ponytail backing up longer tufts resembling large cat ears. She was wearing a scientist version of Kaka jacket with a white coloration, with a hole out the back providing room for her twin cat-like tails. Underneath the lab coat, she was wearing a pair of red capri pants lowered than normal revealing her black panties with a black belt and a pair of white mules with heels but no vamp.
"Kokonoe. What are you doing here?" Shu asked bluntly no surprise coming from his tone.
"I'm checking on you, what else does it look like?" the catgirl stated with an annoyed tone as she walked out of the kitchen and into the living room. Walking up to him, she took the gun out of his hands and set down on the table.
[Kokonoe, also known as the cold scientist of Sector Seven. She is the daughter of two of the deceased Six Heroes, The Phantom Nine and The One-Eyed Locus Jubei. She works at her own lab in Yabiko the 6th hierarchical city in Japan, she is also my caretaker. A cynical and sometimes serious caretaker but she is a good person… as long as you don't get on her bad side that is.]
"You know you can just call and let me know that you are here, right?" Shu pointed out earning a glare from the catgirl.
"I would've if you had your cell on you." she pulled out the cell phone she lent him with was a Galaxy S8 with a black casing. The screen was lit up and it showed about 4 missed calls and 8 new text messages.
"Oh." Shu now realizing that he had left his phone at the apartment, stared at it blankly. "Whoops."
Kokonoe then scoffed before flicking him on the forehead. "Have that phone on you at all times, otherwise I'm taking it back."
"You know you could be a little gentle with your flicking." He said wincing at the small impact that can somehow cause a lot of pain.
"Your right, I could." She said with sarcasm in her voice before flicking his forehead a little harder again and grabbed him by the collar pulling him till their noses met. "Keep your Phone on you. Understand." She ordered with a commanding tone.
"Yes ma'am." He said with an understanding tone, no hints of fear within his eyes as he knew that she would threaten him whenever he did something wrong. A sigh escaping her lips, Kokonoe let go of his collar and walked over to the couch, dropping down and laid across it like a cat trying to take a nap.
"What are you even doing here?" Shu asked once more as he sat on the floor next to the couch. "More importantly, how did you get here?"
"Teleportation." Kokonoe growled looking at him with narrowed eyes as the latter sweat dropped.
'Right, I forgot she made a teleporter as well.'
"Like I said, I'm here to check on you." Kokonoe said as she pulled something from behind her back. It was a needle. "It was time for your weekly check on your blood."
"Oh right." Shu remembered as he rolled up his left sleeve revealing his arm. Kokonoe then took the small needle and pressed it against his arm and injected the sharp blade into his skin, drawing out his blood. Shu remained unfazed as the blood left his arm.
"There. I'll check it to see if anything change in your DNA tonight. Now, did you do anything exciting today?" she asked him with a hint of playfulness in her voice.
"No, nothing new. I visited the graveyard but as if I was a robot on repeat… I didn't go in." he said with a frown earning a grim expression from the catgirl.
"Did any new memories come in?""
"No. Just the same gruesome memory that involved running away from guards and to this escape capsule. Pushing the two occupants in it and then the same sound of a gunshot going off behind me." Shu exasperated as he leaned his head against the leg of the couch.
Kokonoe showed a hint of worry towards the boy. She was the one who found him all those years ago when she heard news of a lab being destroyed. She went to investigate it herself seeing as it was connected to Sector Seven and the off the book projects. They were formed by a forbidden group of scientists that tried to turn children into weapons.
That plan had failed when she found Shu. But there were no records of what they were doing to them and what they did to the children they captured. So, she decided to take Shu with her as to figure out what was going on. At first, he was nothing more than a charge that she was taking care of until she found a legal adult to take care of him but over time, she grew attached to him and saw him as family. She lost her own family over the years she grew up but having Shu in her life, gave her a new purpose and brought her out of her shell. She was more of an older sister type to him… even when she doesn't admit it.
"Are you in pain? Have you been getting any sleep? Did you eat?" she fired off, sounding like a worried mother concerned for her child.
"No, no and yes." He answered truthfully as he turned to face her, and she could finally see the dark circles under his eyes, causing her to inwardly groan. If there was one thing that he rubbed off her it was her habit of not sleeping.
"That's not good brat. Sleep is important and avoiding is doing you no good." She said with a firm tone.
"But don't you do the same thing with your projects, I believe this is what people call pot calling the kettle black." He said referring to a book he read earning a cold glare from the female.
"Brat."
"I know but—" Kokonoe held her hand up as he tried to argue.
"No buts. You need sleep." She said with a stern tone, telling him that he needed it. "So, to make sure you actually do it, I will sleep here for the night."
"Don't you usually sleep in your lab?" he asked her.
"Stoical brat." The catgirl scoffed as she pulled both of his cheeks with her hands earning a groan from the boy. "I can sleep here or the lab anytime I want to, just as I can easily make you drink coffee."
"Never again." Shu hissed as he recalled the first time he drank coffee, it was awful. Not just the bitter taste, but also what had happened that day.
Kokonoe giggled at his expressions toward coffee founding it completely funny when it happened. "Alright, no need to get your panties in a twist, I'm just kidding."
"Um, I don't wear panties Kokonoe. I wear men's underwear like all the other males." Shu stated as the catgirl let out a sigh.
"It was a joke… we still need to work on your sense of humor." Kokonoe then turned on the tv before giving him a piece of paper. "Since I'm staying over for the night, your gonna need to pick up these ingredients when you go grocery shopping."
Shu took the piece of paper from her paws as he read over it before giving her a deadpanned look. "The only category on here that you refer to food is candy."
"And?" Kokonoe raised an eyebrow at what he was getting at.
"Shouldn't there be more types of food on this list like meat, vegetables, frozen food you know the usual thing that people do when they make a list?" Shu pointed out as he pressed a finger to the paper earning a smirk from the catgirl.
"You did hear me say that I wasn't going right?" she emphasized to him as he stared at her with a blank gaze before sighing to himself.
"*Sigh* Alright I get it. I'm going." He grumbled as he stood up and walked over to the door. "I'll be back." he announced as she waved her hand lazily in the air.
"Don't be out too long, last thing we need is for you to catch a cold." She responded as he nodded his head and closed the door behind him, heading to his destination.
Shu was walking down the streets once again carrying numerous bags full of groceries. He had some vegetables, meat and a bunch of candy. The latter was mostly for Kokonoe thanks to her candy addiction.
This time he had an umbrella with him since he took off his hoodie and jacket back at home leaving his torso in a black long-sleeve shirt.
"Still don't understand why I'm doing this. I don't mind getting food for Kokonoe but I rather not have to spend too much money for her candy. It seems very inefficient." Shu said talking to himself as he came to a stoplight as it turned red. Waiting the for stoplight to change color, he heard footsteps coming beside him before stopping, looking beside him, he saw a teenage girl about to same height as him.
She had dark brown hair tied into a ponytail with a ribbon settled on top of it and had hazel eyes. She wears a yellow vest with a white shirt underneath and a green plaid skirt to match her tie, paired with black thigh high socks and brown loafers. Around her arms were guards with bandages and her waist were straps to hold her swords. She was shivering as her arms surrounded her frame, and she was holding what seemed to be a small backpack over her head to prevent the rain from hitting her.
Shu looked at her before looking at his own umbrella for a moment before deciding to shrug his shoulders.
"Here." he said as he held out the handle of his umbrella to the girl as she turned to him with confusion written on her face. "You need this more than I do." He said looking at her with concern as she stared at the umbrella.
The girl slowly reached his umbrella, hesitating along the way as she kept retracting her hand before she finally decided to take it.
"Thank you." she said before worry took over her expression. "but are you sure you'll be okay in the rain like that?
"Mmhm, I'll be okay. I rather not have a girl walk in the rain with no umbrella, its better if they were okay and not soak and wet from the harsh rain." He said with a blank face and pointed a finger towards the sky.
The stoplight changed colors reminding Shu that he needed to go back home.
"Anyway, you take care now okay." Shu said as he gave her a small wave and walked away. As he left the girl behind him stared at his form as she muttered a few words under her breath.
"…Silver Blue."
Continuing down the path to his home, Shu was stopped by the news on the tv as he walked to it. Wondering what the whether was going to be like, he looked at the tv but before he could listen to the news, he heard rapid beats of footsteps running toward him. Turning around he was blindsided when somebody collided with him forcing him to drop his baggage.
"Ow." He muttered as he rubbed his head. Not letting it bother him, he regained his senses and proceeded to pick up his stuff until he saw a familiar person in front of him. Looking at the facial structure he saw that it was the same girl from earlier with that other kid that had green hair.
"Oh's it you… Ochaco."
"Please help me!" she shouted with fear in her voice, catching him off guard.
"What?"
"Izuku, he's… he ran off and I don't know where he is, please help me find him. He'll hurt himself, he'll.." Ochaco spoke erratically as her breathing became more ragged. Shu cut her off holding his hands up.
"Hey…hey… calm down. What is going on what happened?" he asked her slowly but she just shook her head in panic.
"There's no time. I need to find Deku now, please!"
Shu was about to ask again what was going on until the tv in front of them spoke.
"We interrupt this broadcast for breaking news, as bystanders stand in front of a building in alarm and panic. Up top there is a boy sitting over the edge of the roof looking down as if he is about to jump. Police are working as fast as they can to detain the situation and save the young boy. Where are the Pro Heroes?"
Shu had his eyes widened in shock as he saw Izuku with a sad and empty look on his face. He didn't understand what was going on, he just saw the kid earlier and lifted his spirits when he said he could be a hero and now he was about to commit suicide. Just what the hell happened in the last two hours?
Turning to Ochaco, he saw that her hands were covering her mouth in shock and her eyes glistened. Her knees were wobbly as if she was about to collapse any moment.
"Ochaco." He called out to her as she gazed at him with horror and worry. "Go to Chinatown… it's the closest street to where he's at, and it will help you avoid the crowds. I'm going to save your friend." He then turned his back to her before pushing his right foot back. "I promise."
And then with a small crack in the pavement he ran off and unbelievable speed towards the gathering, leaving behind the groceries. The brunette stared at his retreating form for a few seconds before rubbing her eyes and slapped her cheeks before running off in an alternate direction to Chinatown.
2 minutes later
Rounding another corner, Shu came to a complete stop and scanned the area before him. Looking ahead of him he saw the crowd and the police in front of him, but he saw no pro heroes. He questioned where the hell were they, but he pushed those thoughts aside as he focused on the objective at hand.
He heard a scream go off as he looked up and his eyes widened in shock as he saw Izuku stand up near the edge of the roof meaning that he had little time to save him before he jumped. Shu looked around him to think of how he can get up to the roof and saw that he could run up the walls of the building towards Izuku but the buildings mentioned were being blocked by the said police and crowd.
He looked for another way to reach Izuku but multiple screams cut him off as he looked up and his eyes widened in horror at what he saw. Izuku jumped and falling towards to his death, waiting for the ground to collide with him.
Time seemed still as Shu shook himself out of shock and started running to him. He then jumped onto a hood of the car and was about to make another jump. As his feet pressed into the car, there were sounds of the car part braking and the glass behind falling apart. Shu then with all the strength in his form performed a massive jump off the car leaving the car alarm going off and glass shattered.
He had five seconds now, but he was still too far from him. He needed to think of something now before he missed and Izuku hit the ground. He just needed a boost to give him more momentum, so he could reach him but none of his powers had that… unless.
'This may be a stupid… but it's the only idea I've got right now…' Shu thought as he brought out a grenade, clicked the button before releasing it behind him waiting for the timer to go off.
'3…2…1…GO!'
The explosion went off causing crowds to look around in alarm to see if they were being attacked as did the police but none of that mattered as Shu aimed for Izuku.
As he reached him, time slowed down as Shu grabbed onto Izuku and shifted his body over. The momentum he gained caused Izuku to lose his and have his own go towards through a bus shelter. Shu shifted his body over having his back out and Izuku into his chest as he wrapped his arms around him tightly.
They then crashed through bus shelter glass onto the bench and bounced off to a fence with Shu taking most of the impact and stopped once his back hit the hard metal.
"Agh!" Shu gritted his teeth and ignored the hot pain searing through his back and looked down at the charge in his arms. Looking down he saw that Izuku was knocked out cold and had only a few scratches within his uniform, as he can see where the glass hit him. He also saw the dry tear stains across his cheeks and frowned at them, wondering what had happen which he can worry about later.
Standing up slowly, he carried Izuku within his arms and over to the ambulance as a bunch of medics rushed over to them with a stretcher behind them.
"Set him down here." A female medic said as Shu nodded his head and set Izuku on the stretcher allowing them to check over his body for any serious damage. "SO far nothing major just a few bruises around his torso help me get him into the ambulance."
"IZUKU!" Shu turned around and saw Ochaco with teary eyes stumbling and running towards them. Seeing Izuku, she started to run over to him only to be blocked by the female medic. "Get out of the way! Let me see him!"
"I'm sorry ma'am but you can't…" the medic started but was cut off when Shu interrupted.
"She's the reason I was able to save that kid in the first place. If it weren't for her…" he paused knowing that nothing else needed to be said.
The female medic sighed before letting Ochaco go as the brunette went into the ambulance and sat beside Izuku. The doors closed behind them before rushing off to the nearest hospital.
Seeing that everything was taken care off, Shu was about to head off until the nurse stopped him. "You're going to the hospital as well." He was confused until he saw pieces of glass embedded in both of his arms.
"Oh."
So, both Shu and Ochaco were waiting in the hallway for the news on Izuku. Shu was sitting in a chair with some bandages on his arms while Ochaco was sitting next to him in her own chair with her knees clutched to her chest.
Their heads perked up when they heard the door to his room open and Ochaco stood up with worried eyes.
"I need to know how Izuku is." She asked frantically.
"No need to worry, he's stable. He's got some deep bruises but nothing to major." The doctor reassured her as she sighed in relieve while Shu remained in his seat.
"Can she see him?" he asked knowing that the brunette wanted to see her friend so badly.
"Yes, of course. Although please keep him away from anything that could harm him, anything sharp in particular." The doctor advised leaving both teens alone as he left the hallway.
Ochaco release another sigh of relief as her eyes teared up for her friend, he was okay. Izuku was okay and still breathing. She let out a shuddering breath as she turned to Shu before catching off guard and gave him a tight hug.
"Thank you, thank you for saving him." She released him with a watery smile.
"Hey… what happened?" he asked her as she looked away from him. "Did I…did I cause this?" he asked her, but she quickly removed herself from his arms and waved her own.
"No… it wasn't you… his mother…she…" Ochaco struggled to say the rest as Shu immediately understood what she meant.
"Oh…I'm sorry." He says with a frown on his face. This must've been too much for the kid. First, he was shot down by everybody in his life that he couldn't do become a hero, bullied berated and tortured all because of him being quirkless, and now hearing that his mother died took a toll on him. Shu would'nt even be surprised if the kid was in deep depression or his mental state was unstable.
"I just…" Shu was brought of his thoughts as the brunette spoke once more. "I just wish that I met him sooner… then maybe, he wouldn't have to go through all of this." She said as her eyes teared up at the thought of how close her friend came to death.
"It's… it's not fair. He's a good person and just because he's quirkless, everyone looks down on him with pity or disgust…" she clenched her teeth and fists the more she thought about it. The society they live in, a bit prejudice because of the different classes.
"And no pro heroes even showed up to help, it's like the world doesn't even care about him." She growled loudly. She felt like going a rant to say everything about the world around her, her perspective of how society works and how life was both fair and unfair.
But before she could go on one, Shu placed a hand on her shoulder causing the latter to look at him.
"You can't stop people, no matter how much you wish too. The only thing you can do is move forward and prove them wrong." Shu spoke cryptically to her.
"What does that even mean?" she asked him with confusion but the latter just removed his hand from her shoulder and stared at her.
"You'll figure it out later." He said nothing else as he turned around to leave before hearing a shout from her.
"Wait!" He turned back and saw Ochaco fidgeting her fingers.
"Um… I know I just met you a few hours ago, but you seem like a good person and maybe when Izuku's better we could all get to know each other and…" she tried saying but was stopped when she saw a piece of paper in front of her.
She looked over to him as he stared at her with blank eyes wondering if he was giving her something or not.
"I'll come visit. Just ask away and I'll be there." He said letting go of the piece of paper and walked away.
Ochaco then ran into the room holding Izuku, looking at where Shu was one last time before closing the door behind her.
Shu released a sigh as he had made his way towards the exit. Now outside the building, it was still raining lightly, and he forgot to get an umbrella. He was looking around the area as if he was searching for something but then realized that he dropped the groceries awhile back for Kokonoe.
"Looks like we're having Chicken Katsu tonight." He said as he started walking back home stopping in his footsteps at the thought of the catgirl.
Realization hit his head like a ton of bricks when he remembered Kokonoe, there was a chance that she watched what had happened today and something told him that he was going to receive one hell of a tongue lashing when he returned home. At least a certain bounty hunter wasn't there to beat the sense into him, literally.
But this also got him wondering about his actions, why did he give them advice about becoming a hero, why did he save him? He would answers those thoughts another time, for now he must deal with his caretaker and her scolding.
"You. Are. An. Idiot." Kokonoe growled as she pulled Shu's cheeks. Each word leaving her mouth and causing her to pull his cheeks harder. She heard the news alright, she pretty much saw the whole damn thing and it annoyed her to no end. Seeing him save someone with no regard for his own safety, cause her to get angry and worried.
Angry that he did something stupid and reckless, worried about what would happen if someone caught a glimpse of him using his powers.
"I…knuoww" Shu answered with his words distorted.
"I send you to the store to go get groceries and come back home for one hour…" she started with her eyebrows twitching the more she talked. "And what do I find when I change the channel…" she paused on his cheek pulling and glared at him harshly. "I find you, jumping to save a suicidal kid, and possibly ended up a lot more attention from the crowd than normal."
"Swawy." He mumbled at her before the cat girl sighed to herself and let go of his cheeks, placing her hands on her hips.
"What am I gonna do with you?"
Shu just shrugged his shoulders as if he didn't know the answers. He was about to turn around until he felt a hand on his head and pulled forward to gently touch Kokonoe's, the latter having a soft smile on her face.
"Either way, I'm glad that you're safe but do not do anything that stupid again." She said softly.
"I can't promise anything like that because I'm 100% certain that I will continue to do something that reckless and stupid in the future." he answered like he was stating a fact.
"Yeah, you would." She answered with a chuckle escaping her lips.
"Besides, I'm no hero. I'm a vigilante." He corrected her only for the latter to shake her head.
"More of an anti-hero, that status suits you well." She said as her nostrils sniff the air and she made a slight wince at the aroma. "Come on, you need to take a shower, you've been outside long enough."
"Hai." He answered verbally before mentally speaking to himself. 'Yeah, and whose fault would that be?'
"And I'm joining you."
"What?" He paused his footsteps and turned his head towards her like an owl. "B-But wouldn't it be better if you were by yourself?"
"What's the matter, nervous bathing with a woman?" Kokonoe teased hoping to get a reaction out of him.
"No, but I've read in a book that we should respect a female's privacy on more than one occasion. Otherwise it would be rude." Shu said taking out a random book with a name on it referring to matters, only for it to be taken out of his hands as the cat girl took it and toss it aside.
"It isn't if the female wants it. Now let's go." She stated, starting to push him towards the bathroom.
"W-wait, you're serious!?" Shu asked, alarms going off in his head. He tried to make an escape but Kokonoe had a tight grip on his shirt. The cat scientist smirked as she saw his face slowly burning pink causing him to stutter.
"You can even tell me about the kids you met today and all about them." She said ignoring his attempt at escaping only for him to pause allowing her to pull him into the bathroom.
"You were watching me?" he asked wondering if she knew about his encounters with anybody.
"Nope." She said as she closed the door behind her and locked it. Shu stared at her for a good seven seconds before looking around and realized that he was in the bathroom.
"You tricked me…"
"That I did," she started as she took of her lab coat showing her high white neck sports bra. "Now chop chop and get to undressing, that stench ain't going to wash itself." She said as the boy slowly turned around and grumbled to himself while blushing and stuttering to himself.
"…Yes ma'am." He stuttered.
The scene moved over Ochaco sitting by Izuku's bedside as she grasped his hand with to own and just stared at him, wanting nothing more than for him to wake up.
As if fate heard her, no voices were heard as some soft music began playing. Izuku slowly opened his eyes causing the brunette to gasp as she leaned in to see if her friend was truly awake. The greenette slowly sat up and turned his eyes to see Ochaco as the latter started shaking.
Tears made their way down her cheeks as she jumped from her seat and embraced Izuku in a tight hug, crying into his neck. The latter was caught off guard by the hug before slowly wrapping his arms around her and leaned his head into her neck, tears cascading down his face as well.
The scene then showed the girl that Shu gave his umbrella to earlier walking down the street with a smile on her face. She slowly stopped at near a window as she saw the news that showed the events from earlier and was surprised when she saw a certain boy she met hours ago, on tv saving another teen in the air.
She muttered the same words from earlier but this time it was filled with excitement.
"Silver Blue."
Lastly it moved back to the apartment showing Shu and Kokonoe sitting on the bed side by side. The former was watching tv while the latter was reading a book on for research in the human body. Shu insisted on sleeping on the floor but Kokonoe had forced him to sleep in bed and put up a barrier around the perimeter to make sure he didn't do any late night fighting.
Shu let out a small yawn as his eyes became droopy and he was about to fall forward until Kokonoe caught him with her left arm. Gazing at him, she let out a soft smile as she leaned his head onto a pillow. She turned off the light and took off her glasses placing them on the shelf behind them, before draping the covers over them both and laid her head on the opposite side of Shu.
As she was about to close her eyes, she noticed Shu unconsciously leaned towards her and slowly reached his left hand out towards her. She reached her right hand towards his and grasped it softly, pulling it towards her chest, radiating warmth causing him to fall asleep letting out soft snores.
"Stoical brat." She whispered softly before going to sleep herself.
