All It Took

Ten minutes was all it took for his life to come to a complete stand-still.

Ten minutes was all it took to make it to the office, to race up the stairs, and hope it was all a sick joke.

Ten seconds was all it took for him to see the bullets pierce her body.

Ten seconds was all it took for her to fall to the ground, for her current partner to race to her, trying to stop the blood escaping her body, to call for help.

Ten minutes was how long it took for him to rush to the hospital she had been taken to, breaking every traffic law in Los Angeles in his haste to get there.

Ten minutes was how long it took for his team to get there, to be there for him in case everything took a tragic turn.

Ten words were all that was exchanged between him and her new partner.

Ten hours was how long it took to find out anything about her condition.

Ten coffee cups sat on the table, some untouched and ice cold, as they waited to hear the news.

Ten sighs of relief could be heard when the doctor came out and told them that she was still alive, for now.

Ten bullets had went through her, all at different locations, all varying in the amount of damage that was caused to her body.

Ten minutes was all it took to get him back to see her, thanks to the words, and glares, from Henrietta Lange.

Ten tears fell from his icy blue eyes when he saw her lying there, looking small, pale, fragile, and alone.

Ten seconds for him to reach her bedside and to take hold of her hand, to make the statement that he wasn't leaving until she woke up.

Although it felt like ten hours, ten minutes was all it took for him to gather up the courage to say those three little words he had felt for over ten months now.

Ten beeps were all he heard on the monitor before it turned into a line and stopped beeping and people rushed it.

That's all it took, to break the legend, G Callen.

I'm backkk, after, how long? I don't know, I can't remember. So…school started yesterday, junior year is finally here! One more year after this! It seems like all the best things I write come when I am bored in class (U.S. History is a nightmare this year so you'll probably see a lot more of me). This is just a little thing I wrote today, for the first time in months most likely, sorry it's so short; I've gotten a little rusty. Oh well, I'll get back into writing again, hopefully. I was thinking about adding another part to this, but I'm not sure, we'll see after I get feedback. Hope you like it!
