L teeters.

His perch on the armchair makes his position precarious, and Light is convinced that he'd topple over any second now like the towers of sugar cubes he has the habit of stacking.

"You are a high-functioning sociopath."

"Sounds like me."

"You are arrogant and insufferable, so you only have one real friend."

"Could be me." He taps his finger lightly on his bottom lip, and his eyes glaze over as he regards Light.

Something warm, which Light alludes to alcohol, swells in his chest when the genius detective looks at him like that and refers to him as his only friend.

"You are also disorganized and have an older person looking after you."

"Now, now, Light-kun, did you really stick my name on my forehead?"

The younger boy gives a cheeky grin. "You don't have a social life and are married to your work."

At this point, the sweets-loving monstrosity shakes his head. "Still me. This has to be me, Light-kun."

Light offers him another mischievous grin. His speech slurs as he says, "Okay, last one, L. You are the world's best detective based out of United Kingdom."

The insomniac produces a sound, not unlike the cry of a choking frog and yelps, "That's it, Light-kun. I'm certain this is me. I'm going to remove the sticky note now." He does, and then his eyes go round and wide.

"Sherlock Holmes?!"

The teen prodigy stumbles from the armchair opposite the detective and laughs heartily. "Hah! I won!"

L sits stunned for a while before schooling his features into nonchalance, mumbling, "This is why I thought you were Kira" and sticks out his tongue.

Light's eyes narrow, and he pounces on him, sending both of them tumbling on the ground, as L retaliates. A tangle of limbs, they claw at each other like savages.

Eventually, the clawing stops and they assess their condition – arms and legs sprawled out, the entire breadth of their skin touching.

"I think we should kiss," L whispers.

And Light gulps.

A/N: LOL. I am 10 years too late in this fandom, but oh well. I heard a new Death Note one-shot by Obata is coming out, so this is in celebration of that, I guess. Also, I love both Sherlock and Death Note, and this was the product of that. Don't sue me.
