Thanks for all the PM's about this story(: I'm glad you guys are liking it! Again, I'm very sorry that I have to bloodbath some of your characters! They were all very excellent submissions and it was very hard to choose between them.
Honorable mentions are:
Blade Nollins, District 13, Age 17
Haptic Ort, District 10, Age 17
Method Quall, District 6, Age 16
Flex Kallos, District 2, Age 13
Flint Hollow, District 1, Age 14
To thank you guys for submitting, the honorable mentions will all be turned into mentors! I will try to keep true to the characters as much as possible, though I might have to change ages some for continuity. Thanks to everyone for PMing and reviewing!
And now,
The Quarter Quell Twist…
With bated breath, a nation watches as an older man with salt and pepper hair limps onto a shining stage, angelic looking little girl fluttering in his wake. In her soft, chubby hands rests a simple wooden box.
The man smiles at the girl, opening the lid and riffling through the dozens of yellowed cards inside. Finally, he happens upon what appears to be the proper one and draws it up from the box. Something sick and sadistic sparkles in his malicious blue eyes as he reads the paper
"For the 250th annual Hunger Games-"He begins. The little girl gives a whimper and backs away from the platform. The man takes no notice.
"To show that no matter how righteous you are, you cannot defeat the Capitol, one child must die each day to prevent destruction befalling the others"
He smiles and waves to the camera, smiling and waving at all the kids who will die, smiling and waving at all the families that will fall.
In the corner of the stage, the little girl weeps.
