They say death is quick and painless.
I certainly found it to be like that.
--
I found myself on a pier. It was sunset, the sky streaked with orange and red. At the far end of the dock, looking out over the sea, was a young man with blonde hair.
My young man with blonde hair.
My Link.
As if he sensed my presence, he turned to me and smiled.
"I've been waiting a long time for you."
He held out his hand.
"Are you ready?"
I took his hand, and we stepped onto a small sailboat that was swaying gently in the water.
As he undid the ropes, I took one last look at the shore.
"Saying goodbye to the end?"
I shook my head and smiled.
"Saying goodbye to the beginning."
He gave the pier a hearty kick, and the small boat drifted away, slowly gathering speed.
"Where to Milady?"
I felt a tear slide down my cheek.
"Into the sunset, like we always dreamed."

I thought I had more for that, I guess I don't.
This is positively RIDDLED with metaphors (not sure if I typed riddled correctly, but whatever).
If anyone can guess where they are and what they are, you get a COOKIE!
Not-so-subtle hint: Ropes.
