I lay on my bed in the ruins of Florida. Albert Wesker keeps the remaining districts inline by forcing them to compete in a hunger games-like battle royale. This year would be the 3rd annual. "Here, Roxy," I called over my zombie dog, which I had sense 2013, to me. I was 15, practically the youngest girl in the Marina District. My name is Valerie Autumn Asher; I am the only girl in the world who can tame zombified animals, but I won't tell anyone how. Not yet. My dog came over to me, her tail wagging. Suddenly, there was the low hum, and even heaps of the undead stopped to look at the sky; I knew this isn't a good sign in the least. Roxy runs for my closet, where she'll be safe for now. As I head towards Tallahassee, I hear people scampering towards the square. I stand the crowd, silently hoping that I won't get reaped. "Welcome, Floridians, to the annual reaping. I am Annette Birken, this year's escort. Now, let's start with the girl. And this year's tribute is…. Nocturna Asher!" My heart skipped a beat, because I had changed my name to Nocturna. No one volunteers, and I can't even say goodbye to Roxy. I stood there on the platform. "The male tribute is…. Leon S. Kennedy!" He is much older than I am. I almost cry as everyone gives us the sign of respect.

After training all day, the tributes get to chat a little. "Rumors are escalating that you had a zombie dog back at home, is it true?" Leon is nice, but he acts like a cop. "Her name's Roxy, and if you are willing to form an alliance with me then I'll tell you how I managed to train and tame her." I mentally praise myself for getting myself an alliance. Soon it's time for private training, and I and Leon have to wait. "There's a pack of zombie dogs in there. Make it look easy, whatever you do." I nod in agreement. "NOCTURNA ASHER MAKE YOUR WAY TO THE TRAINING SESSION." An automatic voice calls from the loud speaker. Leon was right; I realize that there are caged hounds. The game makers release them and I find myself cornered, but I'm not worried. Within the next minute or so I'm petting them. The game makers released several zombies. "Shred," I tell them simply, and miraculously, the hounds tear apart and ate all 12 of them. Then comes the licker, and I pull out a pocket knife and tear the monster's throat. After that madness, I looked up at the game makers, who are stunned and pointing at me. They tell me that I am dismissed. The Scores-

After quite a few glares and curse words from most of the other tributes, I made my escape to my room, which is pretty much a luxurious hotel room with portraits and photos of deceased tributes. One is my older sister, Audrey. Annette comes not only to congraduate me of getting the highest score possible, but to tell me how rude it was to outscore her own daughter, Sherry. Tomorrow is when the games begin. It is the real deal.
