I deleted this a while ago and I'm bringing this back because of a request. Its not entirely the same, I didn't like the original and didn't have it saved anyway.

Emma was relieved when Ruby called about a break-in at Granny's. Anything sounded better than all the paperwork she had piled up on her desk. There was too much of it for a town so small Emma figured.

Part of her thought that Ruby hadn't sounded as worried as she should but then a robbery was nothing compared to the constant attacks Storybrooke got. Emma grabbed her red jacket and shrugged it on before heading out.

Emma drove her yellow bug to Granny's. The lights were off. Perhaps Granny's had closed early after the break in. She parked her car and walked towards the restaurant. Emma knocked on the door and Ruby pulled her inside.

Emma blinked rapidly when the light was turned on. There had just been the lamp light on at the station and the drive to Granny's had been lit by the moonlight and dim street lamps so the sudden light now was burning her eyes.

"SURPRISE!" Emma jumped back startled. She let a breath of relief when she realized that it was just her family and friends. Well some of them were more acquaintances to her but it was still nice that they came.

Henry ran towards her and hugged her waist. Emma ruffled his head. "Hey Henry. Did you do this?"

Henry nodded vigorously. "Yeah. Do you like it?"

Emma looked around the room. There were streamers and confetti everywhere and everyone was wearing a party hat. At least there wasn't any glitter. She had ended up getting glitter stuck in her hair at the first birthday party she had ever been to.

"I love it." Henry let go of her waist and took her hand. She walked towards everyone with him following along. Regina wasn't there she noticed, which was a relief. She didn't want the Evil Queen at her birthday party but she knew that Henry must be disappointed and that brought a pang to her heart. The one person who she wished could be here wasn't and she ached for Graham to be standing in the corner playing darts.

Mr Gold and Belle were sitting near the counter with Leroy. Belle smiled sweetly at her and Mr Gold raised a glass of whiskey in toast. "Miss Swan," he said.

Emma nodded at them. Henry tugged at her hand and she let him lead her to a booth. She to the end of the booth and Henry sat next to her. Mary Margaret and David sat down across from them. Ruby laid a cake down on the table.

"I ought to charge you for falsifying a crime," Emma said.

"This is much more fun than spending the night at the station, isn't it?" Ruby replied. She walked away before Emma could answer.

"Blow out the candles mom," Henry said.

"I will kid," Emma replied. As she went to blow out the candles she realized that she had gotten what she wished for before Henry showed up at her door. Surrounded by family and friends she was no longer alone. She didn't have to be alone again. She blew out the candles but her wish had already come true.

I don't know where in the series this could fit in. Somewhere after season 1. I meant to have this up by October 28 but oh well.
