It was a pretty normal night. I had the TV on and was playing my new Heart Gold. I had fawned over it since I had got it about 2 weeks ago. My pokemon were already incredibly strong, and I was ready to face Misty in Cerulean.
However, I had the sudden urge to play my original Gold. I saved and turned off my game, and got up off the couch to start searching for it.
After searching for about an hour with no luck, I called my mom and asked her if she had seen my Gold anywhere.
"Oh my, was that yours?" she had said. "I saw it and had no idea what it was, so I threw it out. Sorry honey!"
I moaned. Sighing, I told her I loved her and hung up. I decided I could probably find another copy online. Even if it wouldn't have my initial team, I could try to get as close as possible.
To my surprise, it was quite easy to find a cheap, used copy of Gold. I found it on ebay for $5 (which I found to be a good price). Even if it was broken, I didn't make a dent in my funds. Besides, it was said to have a brand new save battery and never been used! They could be lying, but, might as well try it out.
Two days later, my mom called and told me she was going on a trip to Australia. I told her to have fun and good luck.
About a week later, my game came in the mail, and I ripped open that box faster than a five year old on Christmas. I inserted it into my pink Gameboy Advance (me being a girl and all) and started it up.
Of course, I checked the continue option. Who wouldn't? But the strangest thing happened, and I guess that's why I'm here telling you. All my stats were exactly the same as my old game. I had eight Johto badges, and it had the exact same name. I found it a little weird, but was elated at the thought that maybe I had my full team back. I wasn't scared or anything. I mean, if my pokemon and game would be mad at anyone, wouldn't be my mom?
I quickly continued and found myself right where I left off. I squealed with delight. I soon was on my way to finishing the game. I defeated Kanto's Indigo League, and went on to the Hall of Fame.
Finally, I thought. I can finally go to Mt. Silver! I wound through the confusing tunnels and caves, and finally made myself up to Red. Although it was a bit tough, my pokemon and I pulled through!
But it seemed I wasn't done. Red said something to me.
"You have another challenger that wishes to face you," he seemed to say solemnly. He stepped aside and revealed a woman. She stepped forward and I was pulled into a battle. Her name was…Presilla. Just like my mother. I shrugged it off and continued. I had beat her whole team with just my Feraligatr. When I finished, a low gurgling was heard. It switched back to the overview and the woman was now lying in the floor, the pixels around her red.
"You…you went to far," He stepped back a few steps off screen, then a scurrying noise sounded. I had no idea what had happened.
I got a call that night. It was about my mother. She had been mauled by a crocodile on her trip to Australia.
I didn't know what to do. I was devastated. It was so sudden. When I fell asleep that night, I had a dream.
I killed my mother with that Feraligatr. Because she threw my original Gold out. They got mad…and killed her.
