Disclaimer: I do not own Harry Potter or I'd be rich and Draco would turn good. :)
Summary: She had left him, he had told her he was no good for her but she had left him for that man. Why is she calling him after so long then? Partly based off Jesse McCartney's song Told You So. Enjoy and Review!
Draco pulled the vibrating cell phone and glanced at the caller I.D., cringing as he recognized her name. Hermione Granger. His heart pounded erratically, leaving him slightly dizzy. Her knew the only reason for her to be calling him after so long and he knew his broken heart could not take it. Running a hand through his blond, wind-swept hair he knew he could not resist and flipped his phone open and gave a tentative hello. The voice on the other end of the line made his pounding heart swell until it felt as if it would burst when he heard her tear-filled voice that created anguish within his very soul.
She cried into the phone as she told him how wrong she had been to leave him to go back to that man, Ronald Weasley, how she had not realized how good he was to her. Ronald was nothing but a horrible mistake. She questioned her sanity as she continued to weep, making his already broken heart shatter from her pain. As she told him that she still oved him and begging him to take her back a tear escaped from his shimmering grey eye.
With a choked voice as he tried in vain to suppress the tears gathering in his eyes he informed her that he could not take her back, his heart simply was not strong enough to do so. With regret and sorrow in their voices they ended the call, his heart more broken than it had been before that fated call.
Time passed, seasons changed, and years slipped by. He had run across her in the produce section of the grocery store. His heart still ached for her, the love for her still immense. With sorrow in his heart he noticed the sparkling gold wedding band taunting him from her ring finger. Not being able to stand the sight of the ring, for he still loved her greatly, he said a hasty goodbye. Before he turned away from her for the last time he looked into her chocolate brown eyes to find she was still as deeply in love with him as he was with her. With his broken heart he walked away from his first and only true love, leaving her with a cart full of produce and a sparkling gold wedding band.
