Ah yes, it was a masterpiece. Well, for a six year old it was pretty damn spiffy. Patting down the rugged edges of his sandy fortress, he gave his sandcastle another approving gaze.

"Finally, a place where I can be alone..."

"You need a moat."

The little red head's heart skipped a beat and he launched himself back away from whoever just spoke in his ear.

How the kid sneaked up him he didn't know, and why he was so extremely close he didn't want to know. The boy was around his age, maybe a little older, kneeling in front of his sandcastle. He had long, brown hair and opal colored eyes, which turned to focus on him. 'He's kind of pretty for a boy.'

"If you plan on being alone efficiently, you need to build a moat."

Gaara blinked, and then leveled the boy with a flat glare. "You shouldn't sneak up people; they could end up hurting you or something."

The long haired boy gave a small smile, a hint of amusement dancing in his eyes. "You didn't."

"So what's your name anyhow?"

"I'm Hyuga Neji, what's yours?"

"It's Gaara."

Said boy gazed towards his castle, and then returned his sight to the pretty brunette, and sighed.

"What's a moat?"

The little Hyuga grinned, happy to not have Gaara banish him to the other side of the sandbox. 'Not that'd I'd leave so easily.' Digging his hands in the sand near the front of the castle, he started dragging his hand through it while explaining.

"A moat is a body of water surrounding a castle. They used it to keep enemies and unwanted people away."

The red head nodded slowly, taking in the new information. And he was impressed. He could keep people out now without worrying about them, unless...

"What if they swim through the water?"

Patting the hill of sand around the outside of the moat, Neji smirked.

"I'd imagine the sharks and alligators would take care of them."

Oh yes, little Gaara was sold.

Scooting to the back side of the fort, Gaara watched how the brunette did it for a moment, and then start on his own. After a couple minutes of scooping and smoothing sand, their hands meet at the side of the moat, and both looked up at each other. And Neji grinned, grabbing it and pulling Gaara around the castle.

"See how it looks from the front."

Sitting next to the kneeling Hyuga, Gaara inspected the newly remodeled design, his approval double what it previously.

"So what is your Fort's name?"

Gaara frowned, staring at the sandcastle for awhile. Usually whenever he made a sandcastle he'd name it something like, Fort Gaara, or Fort Mine, something along those lines. But it'd seem kind of mean, considering Neji's help in building the moat thing...

"I, I don't know."

The little Hyuga stared at Gaara, then returned his stare back to the castle. Bring his left hand up to scratch his head-seeing as his right was still attached to Gaara's, much to the red head's slight embarrassment- and though for a minute.

"How about Fort Us? Simple, straight to the point, and only one added person. That's if, you don't mind my company."

Gaara looked at their linked hands, then to Neji's face, and smiled. Slight, but a smile none the less.

"Yeah, that sounds fine."

And hence the creation of "Fort Us". Even though it was off from his original idea, he was content with the outcome. Plus, he didn't think he'd mind sharing this castle with Neji.

Tada! And it's complete! Short, I know, and I wasn't crazy about the ending, but, *shrugs* I like the story. Well if you'd like to see more like it then just tell me. Adios!
