"What's this?" squealed Charmy for the seventeenth time as he picked up Tail's Freeze Ray prototype he had been carefully working on for the last two weeks. Tails sighed. Why does Vector always seem to drop off Charmy at his workshop when Tails was busy planning how to adapt the freeze ions into the light rays to make the ice blast propel exactly vertically? Tails wondered this but then realised the answer almost straight away. It was out of fear and respect for the little bee's safety. Espio had mentioned that the detective work they were currently doing was dangerous and they could easily get hurt. A hyperactive little bee flying around the danger zone would lead to a bad outcome that the intelligent fox couldn't bare to think about. It's not like the bee wasn't used to the risky scenarios that could arise from the job but how will Charmy learn to fight with Espio and Vector if he's holed up in Tail's workshop breaking everything that Tails was so proud of? Tails rolled his eyes as Charmy flew over to the Wisp Decoder, his eyes full of excitement and glee. Tails propelled into the air and blocked Charmy's path.
"Maybe it's time to stop touching all my gadgets ok? How about we play a game or something?" moaned Tails but shockingly Charmy only became more ferocious and agitated by these words.
"I bet you let Sonic and everyone else play with your gizmos. I mean come on I'm trustworthy. You know I'm a detective right" Tails snorted.
"Yeah because clearly you do most of the work. I mean Vector and Espio couldn't do anything without you!" Tails sarcastically replied since he was clouded with annoyance from the bee's antics. He immediately regretted it as Charmy's face looked hurt and stunned by Tails, his eyes filling up with wet tears. Charmy covered his face with his small hands, his safety jacket becoming soaked as time went by. Tails immediately regretted it all.
"Look Charmy, I was just..." but Charmy cut him of:
"How do you think it feels? To be left out in important investigations? Just cause i'm small and weak?" Charmy whispered staring into Tails' eyes despite the fact that he was almost fighting back not to with all of the tears being produced from his eyes. Tails couldn't look away either, he felt terrible about the situation and he was astonished by the words coming out of Charmy's mouth. He didn't think anyone had ever seen Charmy express any negative emotions since he was normally so happy and so full of life.
Tails offered out his hand and Charmy took it gladly, wrapping Tails into a hug.
Tails started to tear up. "I'm so sorry Charmy!"
Charmy smiled and started to brighten up. Tails started to perk up.
"Let's get some ice-cream" cried out Tails and Charmy obliged, racing Tails across the sky to the Ice-cream vending machine.
