Hello, all! So, the wonderfulness that is Angel, the vampire with a soul! Umm, this is a show I've loved since I was 10-12 ish. I recently started rewatching it and I realized I really like Kate! I've always liked her, but now I reeeaaaally like her. And I've come to adore the pairing I shall call Kangel! (AKA Kate/Angel) I really think they're cute together. I've been bitten by three different plot vampires for them. This is the first to be written. I suppose it's okay. I tried to go for something kind of narrative, just explaining their progressing relationship. And the end turned into pure fluff! But that's okay. Angel is, after all, just a big fluffy puppy with bad teeth!
Hehe! So enjoy! And if you're so inclined/compelled, please review. Reviews truly are the oxygen/food/water/blood/life sustainer of a writer.
Do you trust me?
You know I do.
Those words, exchanged so long ago, made him so happy. Trust. It had only been a year or so since someone trusted him so dearly, but it had seemed like forever. Once again, someone wholeheartedly trusted him. Cordelia and Wesley trusted him, of course, and Gunn kind of half trusted him, but they were always worried about when he'd snap. When he'd lose his soul. They constantly had to remind themselves, and him, that there may be a day that they have to kill him.
But Kate...She trusted him. There was no doubt about the level of trust between them.
No doubt until she found out about him. When she discovered the truth about him being a vampire, well, she wanted nothing to do with him. He needed her trust back so much. He tried everything he could to prove to her he wouldn't harm her; that he really was one of the good guys. But she'd never believe him, never trust him again.
You want to be enemies? Try me.
That's what they had become. Enemies.
He didn't want to be her enemy, only ever her friend. That's all he ever wanted, ever since he first met her at that bar. She had been so lonely. It wasn't an act to catch the bad guy, though that's what she'd like him to believe. She was truly lonely. She wanted someone, needed someone, to be there for her. Someone she could lean on. Someone who wouldn't betray her. He wanted to be that someone.
But he lost his chance. They were enemies.
I'm afraid you'll get killed.
And he really was. He worried about her all the time. He still worried about her, even after their falling out. He'd always check up on her, just to make sure she was still alive, still holding out.
I think maybe we're not alone in this.
Why?
Because I never invited you in.
He saved her. She had tried to end the pain, but he wouldn't let her give up so easily. She had to fight. She had to have hope. She couldn't let all that she's been through bring her down. She had to stand up against the pain.
But this time, she wouldn't be alone. He'd be with her, every step of the way. He'd never fail her again. He swore to protect her, no matter the cost. And though she was reluctant at first, she eventually came to accept his declaration.
"Do you trust me?"
"Angel…" She hesitated before looking him directly in the eyes. "You know I do."
