Johnny went to his bedroom dressed in his cyan blue pajamas and purple slippers and walked over to his bed. Hugh and Lila followed him into his room. Hugh tucked Johnny into bed. And then he sat on a chair by Johnny's bed after tucking him in.
It was around two-fourteen. Johnny and his friends had just had their dinner party before they said goodbye and went home.
"Wow that was an amazing adventure Dad!" Johnny said.
"Yes, it certainly was son." Hugh smiled, but then his smile disappeared.
"Johnny, can we talk?"
"Of course, Mom. What do you want to talk about?" Johnny asked.
Lila sighed. She was good with expressing his emotions, being the professional that she is, but nonetheless there was something on her mind that she needed to tell Johnny.
"Johnny, I'm sorry."
"For what?" Johnny looked confused.
"For… not telling you that your friends are trying to take you away, for snapping at you when we were trying to escape the darkness and for being so overprotective."
Johnny did not say anything. He just sat in his bed while listening to Hugh and Lila with a calm expression.
"Johnny, I care about you a lot." Lila said.
Hugh said "We are afraid, that as you grew up, that we are gonna lose you."
"Dad and Mom." Johnny spoke up. "Are you saying that you were afraid that I was going to move on someday and forget about you?"
Hugh looked at Johnny and smiled. "I know that now son."
"You're ready for bed Johnny. And I have to acknowledge that, no matter how sad it makes me feel. But know this; I'm very proud of what you did today and I know that you're now capable of handling some things on your own." Lila said.
"Do you really mean that Mom?"
"I do Johnny. With all my heart." Lila said smiling.
Hugh got up, walked over to the door, and turned off the lights. Lila turned off the lamp and also walked over the door.
Hugh and Lila arrived at the door and looked back at Johnny Hugh then said "Goodnight son. Sleep well."
"Goodnight Dad." Johnny said. "Goodnight Johnny." Lila said.
"Goodnight Mom. I love you both." Johnny said smiling, his head on the pillow.
Johnny fell fast asleep. Hugh and Lila closed the door and walked away.
And then Hugh and Lila walked to their bedroom, got into their bed, and fell asleep.
