As Time Goes By, Lessons from the Soul

-

Time flows by

People change

Shells of their former self

Growing stronger

The effortless sun

Watches in eternal silence

We all have this thing

Fighting Spirit, it's called

Want it, need it

Use it, fuel it

Live to watch the sun die

-

They smile back at you

Oh, how you've grown

Remember the days

Of innocence long gone

Now you know better

Now you are stronger

Now you are faster

Now you are harder to beat

The blackness of the shadow

Casts a glow of unknown

-

Tired eyes; why so sad?

'Live a life with no regret'

Your saying is long forgotten

The painted heart has many cracks

How much longer till the end?

How much longer till you sleep?

A kiss is the greatest gift from Death

-

Sadly, you think, "Why? When will it end?"

Even sadder, no one answers

Questions added to god

But they don't hear

-

A melody plays

The song of life

So simple

It has few notes

Time passes; it grows long and complicated

Winding notes –

Eighths – Fourths – Halves –

A composition that stretches

Past any amount of paper

Suddenly your answer appears

"It will never end"

The circle of life keeps turning

As endless as

The cosmos

A field of flowers

The never-ending sky

And you wonder, "That can't be true."

A field of flowers end

The never-ending sky is not really never-ending

Does that mean the circle of life

Has a destination?

Stops at one point?

Another question

Even the greatest scholars and minds

Cannot answer

-

Enough about life

It's hard enough

The "hard-knocks of life"

Trials and tribulations

Everyone faces

You are no different from the rest

But they must come

And you must overcome

After all…

They are what make you

Right?

Changes are what make you…

You.

-

Remember that time

Those "ramen days"?

They were only yesterday

Yet you feel as if

A millennium has passed

Reminisce: such a sad thing

You remember the good times

As you live the bad

It's not fair…

Just not fair

But life's not fair.

You hate that voice

The voice of cold truth

-

Enemies you fought

Enemies you made

Enemies you fight

Enemies you make

Friends you knew

Friends you had

Friends you know

Friends you have

-

Past; Present; Future

Here; now; there

History; a Gift; a Mystery

Fools look back at the Past

Fools waste the Present

Fools worry about the Future

Just live and be content

But that's hard already, isn't it?

-

The lessons learned the hard way

Are often the ones you recall best

Always do the right thing

This will gratify some

This will astonish the rest

"Walls to keep out the sadness"

"Can also keep out the happiness"

Didn't someone say that?

They must have been wise

And you must have been foolish

For never listening

-

Having so much power

So much strength

So much energy

Must be great, huh?

It's a pity to see it

Wasted on trivial matters

A shame to see the mighty fall

A shame to see what they wrought

It is infuriating

To see these gifted individuals

Waste their lives away

-

My dreams

Become distant apparitions

So far…far…far away…

I wish it were nearer

That way I could reach them easily

But what would the journey be then?

If stars were easy to touch

Do you think god would have

Made them so bright?

The initiative makes us change

The journey makes us stronger

The goal gives us joy

Let's celebrate tonight

-

The Four Seasons

A cycle of Life in itself

Spring; Summer; Fall; Winter

Birth; Life; Dying; Death

Spring becomes Summer

Summer becomes Fall

Fall becomes Winter

Then Winter becomes Spring

Death becomes Birth

Circles were meant to never break

-

Have you ever been in love?

Horrible, is it not?

Vulnerability is a trait

It opens your heart

Allowing people to see you for you

Allowing enemies to hurt you for you

Allowing strangers to touch you for you

They mess you up

Painful, is it not?

The best of armors

Can't stop the feelings from forming

You give them a piece of you

You give them your trust

You give them your life

To do as they please

They give back shards

They break your trust

They curse your life

You hate them

You hate life

You hate love

But…

If Love is so bad…

Why do people do it anyway?

They don't enjoy getting hurt

They don't enjoy the bad side

There must be something good in Love

That makes people continue, right?

There must be a good side

It sounds logical, reasonable, fair

But when has Love ever been logical?

When has it been reasonable?

Or fair?

But…

It's just a trial of Life, isn't it?

You'll get over it, right?

Then you give Love another chance

You open your heart again

Just a little, a tiny crevice

But enough for the pain to leave

And the healing to begin

Enough for the tears to dry

And the love to come in

-

Insert the pain and begin the tragedy

Insert the tears and begin the recovery

Time heals all wounds

But why wait?

Take a chance

Be different

Inspire others

You just might get a glimpse at Life

From a different point of view

-

Let's grow together

Let's fight together

Let's heal together

Let's cry together

This you say to your friends

Happiness written on your faces

Together you grow

Together you fight

Together you heal

Together you cry

It's inevitable though

Each day you lose someone

Their last breath escapes

"It sucks," you think

You can't change a damn thing

Not a damn thing…

But it's inevitable though

The people you knew

The friends you had

All smiling faces…fade away

You try to remember, you try your best

But you can't, they're gone forever

Such a flaw of Death

-

You were so young then

"I will find a cure for Death"

Looking back

You shake your head

You were hopeful then

Not yet used to the harshness of reality

Yet a small part of that boy or girl

You once were

Clings to your soul

You are still saying

"I will find a cure for Death"

The naïve little boy or girl

You once were

Did not disappear

They have hardened into the soul

You are now

-

Weakness

You dislike that word

Strength is what you seek

To protect and fight

But you were never weak

Just naive

"Those words should be synonyms,"

You think bitterly

The time has come

To prove your right; strength; will

No longer are you fueled by rage

No longer are you driven by revenge

No longer are you standing in the sidelines

It's time to step up, embrace it

You fight by your way now

You fight to protect those you call 'friends'

You fight to keep the bonds forged

You fight to live, dream, fly

You fight for yourself now

Never give up

It's the point of no return

"It's time to watch my back"

-

The recollections of your past

Memories, they are called

Thin ribbons connecting us

From the present to the past

And the future to the present

Don't ever forget them

They are the key to the future

We are like pieces of clay

Molded by people we meet

Until we gain shape and form

Without human interactions

We would still be that piece of clay

Underdeveloped

-

For the better

People leave their past

And delve into the future

Forget the bad

Remember the good

Leave the sorrow

Cherish the happiness

After all, it's those little things in life

That makes it worthwhile

-

Time has no master

It answers to no one

Like a winding river

It flows…forever

The sands of time will never run out

The effortless moon

Watches in ethereal silence

We all have this thing

Fighting Spirit, it's called

Want it, need it

Use it, fuel it

Live to watch the sun rise

-

Disclaimer: I didn't want this to interrupt the flow of the poem so I put it here…yeah. And do I REALLY have to say this! (grumbles)

A/N: Well…I don't know how to justify me writing a poem all of a sudden. It just…came to me. The mood was right, the song felt right, heck, even my background was right! And…the end result is this 12 or so pages of literature…about what, you ask? Life, Death, Time, Inevitable, Change, Growth, Friendship, Love…have I missed something? I'll leave it up to you. I'm not going to say who exactly this is about…again, I'll leave you readers to think about it! It could be about everyone in Konoha…even snippets pertaining to Yondaime or Itachi! Who knows? It's basically up to your interpretations I guess. (shrugs) The general idea speaks volumes, however. I'm sorry if this bored you to any extent, I just felt like the mood! (laughs) Anywhos, please kindly leave a review! Anything ranging from criticism to negative comments to positive comments to worship are welcome! Heh…the last part was a joke. I hope you enjoyed this and have fun deciphering meanings and picking out the lessons. Thanks for reading! (bows)
