Together

The heavy rain pounded against the makeshift tent and every now and again a small drop fell and dribbled its way inside.

"Well this is just great." Jack grouched as he wiped off another raindrop that had hit his brow.

"Sir we can't make our way back to the Stargate, not in this storm. The best thing to do is just wait it out until tomorrow" Said Sam "….or whenever the storm subsides " She added as an afterthought after it occurred to her that the storm may actually last some time.

Jack sighed, he knew she was right which only added to his less than happy mood. He was stuck in an ever increasingly wet tent, with a Kel'no'reeming, seemingly oblivious to the damp world around him Jaffa, an over excited scientist who had some pretty little things she'd found on the planet that apparently were of some great scientific significance, and a brooding archaeologist who was still upset that Jack had made them leave the ruins he had been studying earlier than he'd have liked. He looked around the tent and sighed.

"What I wouldn't give for a TV."

"Where would you plug it in?" Daniel asked as he stretched out his legs, it was more of a sarcastic rhetorical question than an actual question and his lack of a need for an answer was demonstrated when he picked out a book from his bag and began reading.

"You just have to ruin it don't you."

Daniel rolled his eyes, placed the book face down to keep his page, took off his jacket and wrapped it up until it resembled a pillow. He placed it on the floor and gently laid his head down trying to avoid getting scratched by the zipper. After getting some way comfortable he grabbed his book, held it above his head and again began reading. Sam was sat opposite Jack and was fiddling with her gizmos and gadgets and the goodies that Jack had yet to find out what they were, he didn't really care to much though, and earlier when Sam had found them the only thing he could think of to say was 'Ooh they're shiny.' which of course earned him a look from Sam, a rather amused 'Silly Jack' kind of look, the one that he was so used to getting from both Sam and Daniel.

Teal'c was still off with the fairies or beautiful Jaffa women, or whatever it was that Teal'c saw when Kel'no'reeming. Jack had never really watched Teal'c perform Kel'no'reem before and was quite fascinated by the facial expressions that he was displaying. Very small facial expressions, ones that could be easily missed if one weren't paying so much attention to them, but facial expression none the less, every now and again his lips would twitch into what looked like the beginnings of a smile before fading back into the expressionless look that seemed to suit Teal'c so well.

Jack silently watched his fellow team mates and although the hole in the roof of the tent that seemed to follow Jack around was still dripping rain onto him he gave the smallest of smiles. The last few weeks had been a rough few for the team and recent missions had taken it's toll on everyone, nerves were frayed and the smallest of things seemed to spark off an instant argument, usually between Jack and Daniel but that was neither here nor there. The time stuck on the 'monsoon planet' had given Jack some time for reflection. He smiled again, it was strange, his sour mood was slowly lifting and he realized that it was times like this that made him glad to be a part of SG-1. Sure he was wet, tired and a little hungry but just sitting watching his friends gave him the sense of comfort, of belonging. They weren't arguing, fighting a big bad or trying to deal with the possible end of the world, they were just sitting waiting out the rain. Waiting it out together.
