The Sad, Sad Tale of the Forgotten Snark
1 2 "We were out hunting the Snark,"
I said, "Remember at all?"
3 Rhiannon just stared cluelessly back
"Zim, what on Irk made me fall?"
I grinned compassionately at her.
"It's a long, sad, adventurous tale…
are you sure you can sit still?"
With that her face turned very pale.
"Yes." She replied finally swallowing her fear.
"I would like more than anything to hear it
this very long, peculiar tale."
Written on her face, I could tell she feared it.
I started my tale, her eyes growing wide.
"the wind, from the south, was blowing
all the Invaders were eager to go
but no one knew where we were going."
"What a very odd way to sail."
She said with very wide eyes.
"I'm not done yet, sit back down!"
I rather harshly replied.
She said not a word
As I went on with the tale,
Of the hunting of the Snark
Our intent to find when we set sail.
"There he was, the great beast;
swimming through the frothy sky.
He was so very strange and calm
as we watched him swiftly fly by."
Rhiannon's eyes widened bigger still,
she gasped but never spoke.
The look she gave me was soft and rare.
I thought that I would choke.
She was hanging on my every word…
How could I make her my human slave?
'It won't seem right.' I pushed my thoughts aside
'Save that till later, or another day.'
"People tried to hurt the Snark.
That's when you said: 'Not at all!'
You shooed the poor Snark away,
That's when you began to fall."
"We tried to catch you, you hit your head hard.
We all thought that you had died.
Everyone was crowded around you…
The Snark even came back and cried."
"Didn't anyone notice the Snark?"
Rhiannon asked confused and dizzy.
"If they did, no one cared.
With you they were much too busy."
"I suppose you didn't care."
She said with a big frown.
I gazed deeply in her eyes,
"I was, now don't feel down."
Her eyes lit up brightly.
She lost her pale look.
This was turning to romance,
Just like some book.
Never thought I'd kiss a human.
Yet we actually did kiss.
Forgetting everything around us,
And the Snark we did miss.
It swam by the ship,
Eyes filled with glad tears.
It's slow, sweet song
We did never once here.
I held Rhiannon close.
She smiled with such glee.
I lifter her head with my finger
"Deep down inside you see me."
The hunt was the best!
Forget the Snark, love is better.
The Snark is only out on clear nights;
Love is in any weather.
People always read fairy tales,
Never thinking they'll come true.
Well it happened to me,
It could happen to you.
