Peter Quill, Star Lord, wearing a blue uniform with red lining, walked down a hallway with Gabriel Vargas, the current Captain Universe, with a similar outfit, only having white lining. "You hate this idea, don't you?"
"More than any of your other plans, Pete." Gabriel said as they walked.
"Even more than that time on Morag?" Peter asked.
"Yes, because that time we weren't trusting known criminals to watch our backs." Gabriel said as they walked through a doorway. "Who is our 'team' anyway?"
"You're lookin' at 'em." Peter said. In the room, there were four cells and a woman. "First, we've got Mantis. Empath and slight telepath. Only other member of our team who isn't a criminal."
"Hello. I am happy to be joining you on this mission." Mantis said happily to the two.
"Next, we've got Bug. Says he's from someplace called Kaliklak, although we don't have any records of it. He was arrested for being in a Nova Corps restricted area, although later he accidentally confessed that he was a thief and stole the spaceship he was flying. I got a feeling he'll be handy for our mission. Also, he's good with a staff." Peter said as they looked at the first cell.
"Who're you guys?" Bug asked as he looked through the bars, then catching sight of Mantis. "Oooo pretty lady."
"Next, we got Subject 89B-whatever the hell. He calls himself Rocket. He was an experiment on the planet Halfworld, where he and his people rebelled against the scientists torturing them. He became bounty hunter, but we're gonna use him for his skills at inventing. Rumor has it he can make a gun out of just about anything. He was arrested for aiding the walking talking tree."
"He looks like a Raccoon." Gabriel said.
"Sure does. But don't tell him that."
"Why?"
"Cause Garthan got one hell of a broken nose for calling him a hamster."
"He deserved it!" Rocket yelled in his cell.
"That he did." Peter said as they moved to cell number three. "This is Groot. He was arrested for impersonating the king of Planet X, who was not happy when he found out that Groot was alive. He was a bounty hunter with Rocket, servicing as his muscle, which is what he's gonna serve on our team."
"I am Groot." Groot said.
"I'm Gabriel."
"I am Groot is all he says." Peter said. "And last, we've got Sharra Neramani, Deathcry. Wanted for killing a whole lotta people. Professional assassin of her people. And she sure as hell is gonna be handy for our purposes."
"I will escape this cage and kill you all!" She yelled as she grabbed the bars.
"She's also got anger issues and is the only one I think we're gonna need a kill collar for." Peter said.
"That seems-" Gabriel began before being cutoff.
"Not my style. I know. But she could totally kill us all and I like being alive." Peter said. "So. What do you think of the team?"
"I still don't like this plan Peter. You're gonna get yourself killed." Gabriel said before cracking a smirk. "Which is why I'm coming with you."
Peter smiled. "Welcome to the planet's last hope, Gabe."
