AUTHORS NOTE-

This is just a prologue so it's rather short. Keep reading. I will make it worth your while. I promise that the rest of the chapters are much longer….

I tried to keep the story as realistic as possible. Some of the characterisations have been changed but I will not stray too far into OOC. Everything will have a reasonable explanation if you hang around long enough. I also promise that there will be no Mary Sues. Every character has their faults.

I'm going to say this here and I'm only going to say it once for the entire story: I am not JK Rowling. I will never be her. Never would I claim to own the majesty that is Harry Potter. Everything belongs to JK. I bow to her superior skill. I am making no profit from this story. I am just borrowing the characters, settings, and some plot points. Don't hate the kleptomaniac. I can't help myself. I promise I will return everything once I am done.

1985

"…and then the powerful wizard swept the Flower Princess into his arms. He had proven himself worthy of courting her with his pure heart and valiant victories. And, by Salazar, the princess married the powerful wizard. With his strength they lived an enchanted life, full of success-"

"And love, daddy! They were in love!" The wide-eyed child sat up abruptly in her bed.

Cassius Parkinson smiled indulgently at his small daughter as he settled her against the pillows and tucked the blankets around her once again. He brushed her hair out of her eyes before settling patiently back into his seat.

Glancing down at his pocket watch, Cassius frowned. Twenty minutes until his scheduled firecall with the Minister. There was important business to discuss. Now was not the time to show weakness and indulgence.

"A live full of love and success." He continued quickly, "For they had proven they would not be fooled by the lesser beings. They were the rulers of the forest and they were destined for one another. By Merlin's mercy, The end."

"One more daddy." Even as she spoke Pansy let out an enormous yawn, "I want to hear the one about the mudblood crone."

"Not tonight, my little flower,"

"The one about the Unicorn and the pure hearted maiden?"

Cassius chuckled in response to the demands of his daughter. He brushed a quick hand against her brow before standing up.

"Go to sleep, flower. All princesses need their beauty sleep." Cassius turned to the candle on the bedside table, "Nox."

With quick movements he made his way to the door where his wife waited impatiently for him to finish the story. Her stern gaze told him that he had spent far too long with his daughter that evening.

A small voice crept through the darkness as he made to close the door behind him.

"Will I marry a powerful wizard, daddy?"

Cassius paused before turning back to his daughter. This was important; more important than any meeting with the Minister.

"Of course princess. You are the loveliest flower in the entire world, so you shall marry a pure and powerful wizard. I promise."

He left without another word.

In the darkness a smile flew across the little girl's face. If her father said she was going to marry a powerful wizard then she knew that she would marry the most powerful wizard in the world. Daddy had never broken a promise.
