Title: Curtains

Summary: Soubi was always on Ritsuka's mind. One-shot drabble thing.
It was when the curtains blew that Ritsuka found himself turning towards the balcony door. He looked with amethyst eyes, automatically seeking out the figure obscured by the fluttering fabric. It was his secret longing, his unspoken wish to see that tall, lithe silhouette cast upon the curtains.
It was never Soubi though, only the wind trying to steal Soubi's identity. Soubi never came when Ritsuka was looking for him.
The boy would always turn back to his homework with his heart somehow heavier then it had been only a moment before.
The wind stole Soubi's identity and lifted hopes that Ritsuka tried to squash.
On this particular night it took Ritsuka five raised hopes and crushed wishes to finally stand up, abandoning his schoolwork to head over to the window. His tail was twitching in agitation, as he narrowed his eyes at the offending, fluttering curtains.
"Stupid wind," he muttered, shutting the door firmly.
"Stupid curtains." The draperies were drawn, blocking the clear night from the boy's sometimes hopeful gaze. He sighed, sitting back in his chair, ready to focus on his homework with a completely Soubi-free mind.
Ritsuka's mind, though he would never admit it, would never be Soubi free, and there was the proof; a Soubi-shaped shadow upon the fluttering curtains out of the corner of his eye.
"Stupid Soubi," the whispered words left the boys mouth as he slumped down over his unfinished paper, pencil slipping from his hand in defeat. Soubi would never leave his mind.
"Hello, Ritsuka." The boy looked up, startled by the sudden imaginary shadow turned real. Soubi was so close, leaning over the back of Ritsuka's chair, icy blue eyes studying the paper that had once held Ritsuka's focus. He moved so he was standing beside Ritsuka's chair, one hand resting on the boy's shoulder, pulling him gently to his side.
Ritsuka let out the breath he had not realized he was holding, relaxing against Soubi's side.
Soubi would never leave his mind, and Ritsuka wanted it no other way.
Author's Note: Well, here is another short one-shot thing. I wrote the first paragraph or so (though it is revised here) months and months ago during my Legacy of World Civ. Class in my notebook, and found it there when looking for another fic concept I want to work on. So, I figured I'd finish this one, since the writer's block that had trapped it is now officially gone! Yay! I hope you enjoyed. :D
