Children

Kitty and Peter have that conversation. Nope, still don't own them.

Kitty and Peter found themselves on the front lawn late one evening, watching the kids play. The kids needed a break and Peter and Kitty wanted out. The sun had all ready dipped below the horizon and the blue sky had turned a deep purple fading toward black. The only rue this evening was no powers, just fun. They laughed as an impromptu game of Red Rover, Red Rover suddenly broke out. They laughed as one of the larger kids broke through the line with difficulty.

Kitty admired the ring on her hand as Peter put his arm around her. Scenes like this and Emma's expanding waistline made her wonder about the future. A few mutants had been born in the past months, but they were few and far between. If the increasing babble from Emma was any indication, her baby would add to the population as well.

"I know that this sounds like blasphemy," she sad to Peter, "but what if that baby is Rachel? It is a girl."

Peter looked at his fiancée with interest, "Well, here's the question: Why would Kate lie to Rachel about her mother?"

"If Kate's experiences with the White Queen were anything like mine, somehow I wouldn't blame her," to everyone's shock, Sebastian Shaw had shown up at Scott's memorial service, expressing his condolences. Kitty and the rest of the team knew what her really wanted, and readily explained to him what Cassandra Nova had done.

"Wow," had been his comment. "A battle I was in while I was in England. That's a new one on me. You know she's…" he didn't have to finish the statement as every head started bobbing to the comment. He walked over to Kitty, "Congratulations, Kitty. I wish you and Peter the best." Even Emma admitted that that was an odd conversation.

"Well, we won't know if it is Rachel until she's born," he said. "Kitty, do you want children?"

She pulled a dandelion from the lawn and started blowing on it. The spores drifted across the lawn, giving her time to think. Finally, she spoke, "Yes, Peter, I want children. At least two, I want a boy and a girl," her lips pursed, "I'm going to talk to Emma about letting me go back to school, at least part time. I've decided to pursue psychology."

"We lost a lot when Moira died," they turned as Emma's voice caught their attention. Melia landed beside her as the other winged residents joined them. "Do you have a plan?"

"So far, I can transfer to NYU and take weekend and evening classes. It'll take longer than going full time," she sighed. "Let's talk about kids again after we're married."

Emma laughed, "That's a really good idea." The game of Red Rover ended and what looked like a cross between Freeze Tag and Red Light, Green Light began. "We'll help out with your tuition, Kitty. I'll write it off as a necessary expense. You'll be having an emphasis on meta-human and child development?" Kitty nodded. They watched her move off onto the lawn. Her gait was starting to become slightly ungainly.

Peter moved his arms around her shoulders, bringing her into his embrace, "Whatever you decide to do, I'll be here," he said, giving her deep, satisfying kiss.

Wrote this while the boys made French fries, go figure, let me know what you think.
