Needless to say, she had abandonment issues. They weren't so strong as to hinder everyday life and activities, but the times when he would leave for a number of days to save the day, she would have some trouble. It's not that she didn't trust him; she didn't think him ever capable of stealing away without a word, but her mind continuously thought up ridiculous scenarios and her body reacted accordingly. At around the middle of the third day she would just be a little tense, by the evening she would lose her appetite and when night finally came, sleep did not.

She would sit awake all night, staring out at the dark skies. Her tired mind would dangerously wander at times like these, staring at Olympus in the distance. Had he really been satisfied staying mortal? Did he truly not wish for exalted glory as a God? Was he really happy here with her?

Such thoughts continue and then, just before the sun has risen, his figure would appear on the horizon. He never looked weary or tired, in fact, his eyes always lit up when home came into view. He'd always have some token of the gratitude form the people he'd rescued. Fine silks, medals, and sometimes just sacks full of gold (which he'd practically been forced into taking) slung over his shoulders.

She would instantly calm down, feeling utterly foolish for being on edge in the first place. She did not burst into tears and run to him. She had a reputation to keep up, after all. She'd go to bed and lie down, pretending to have been asleep all the time.

She'd hear him come in, set down his winnings, and come to their room. She kept her eyes closed as she felt his presence beside her. He'd lightly kiss her cheek, being careful not to wake her and settle down to get some rest himself.

She then would roll on her side, placing her arm around him and nuzzle into his side. He'd jump slightly and she'd open her eyes to find his beautiful, kind blue ones. She would reach and run her fingers through his orange hair.

"Welcome home." She'd whisper and his loving smile would make her heart tremble. He'd kiss her, long and sweet, then whisper back,

"I've missed you."
