I'll Be Your Song

These have been quiet day
When was the last time I wanted to sing
Last few dying days hanging on - what will they bring?
Even you and me
We keep coming apart
And it's a wrong thing
We gotta look right at each other and say it
Turn on the radio and play it
And fall in love again
Can you feel the light shine
You now this song's yours and mine
Ain't it good to know you've got a place to go
Where the melody's fine
Sometimes I'm not so strong
And even now I could be wrong
But if you love me like music
I'll be your song
-Love Me Like Music (I'll Be Your Song), Heart
There's such a sad love, deep in your eyes, a sort of pale jewel open and closed within your eyes. I'll place the sky within your eyes.
Sarah had heard this song before. She had seen this scene before. Dancers in fancy clothes all around her, watching her, almost cruely. She herself was in a beautiful white dress. The ball was like a fantasy, only in her fantasies, the others were watching her in awe, not sneering at her. p
There's such a fooled heart beating so fast in search of new dreams; a love that will last within your heart. I'll place the moon within your heart.
Sarah was looking for something, or someone, and didn't know who or what. Still, she felt the need to keep searching. Then she saw him, peeking out from behind a mask.
As the pain sweeps through, makes no sense for you. Every thrill that's gone wasn't too much fun at all. But I'll be there for you oo-oo as the world falls down
That was when Sarah woke up. She always woke up at that point in the dream, which had been plaguing her for a month now. Yet at the same time, she knew, it had once been very real. Only three years ago she had danced in the Goblin King's arms. But she hadn't stayed. She wasn't able to. She had to rescue Toby, despite her growing attraction to Jareth. The rest of the night, as always, was sleepless.
Jareth awoke with a start. It had been the same dream every night for the past month. Once again, he and Sarah were in the crystal ball, and he always awoke at the same point. What he couldn't understand was why he was dreaming about her now when he hadn't thought of her at all in the past three years? He had loved her, and she had rejected him. But she had had three years to grow up, to understand such feelings. He conjured up one of his crystals and called up her image. She was awake, as well. Was it possible they were having the same dream, and awakening at the same time? More likely, she was just having a sleepless night. But was the dream telling him something? Perhaps now was the right time to attempt to earn her love. But he couldn't go to her unless she called.
Once again, Sarah awoke from the same dream. It was a nightly occurrence that was highly annoying. Was Jareth behind this? She had to find out. She whispered his name, asking him to come, not sure she wanted to. Sarah was scared and curious at the same time. When the Goblin King appeared in her room a moment later, she just watched him.
Jareth tilted his head to the side. "I'm assuming you had a good reason to call me, Sarah? After all, it is the middle of the night."
Sarah nodded. "I've been having dreams…" she told him.
"So have I," he said.
"It's you and me…" she told him.
"And we're back at the ball," he said, interrupting.
She nodded. "And I'm looking for you…" As they were speaking, their faces had been getting closer, and now their lips touched. The music from the ball surrounded them, along with a white light, and now they were dancing again. It was a dream that was letting them live happily ever after.
