The stars are blinking out.
But the time isn't right, not yet. The denizens of light wait with bated breath, watching the paths of the universe unfold.
The darkness spreads unchecked, ravaging all in its path. Entire worlds are erased, and hearts consumed, but the shadows are always hungry.
All hope seems lost until earth, water, and sky rise up to fight. Light shines again and the shadows slink back into their corners to wait.
But there are three keys to one door.
Only one can open it.

Years pass, the guardians disappear within a maze of forgotten things, and the power of darkness begins to grow again.
All the pieces lie where they fell.
Finally the day comes ("The door has opened.")
