Just a quick one shot I thought up during my lunch hour

I own my imagination but not the characters staring in it.

It was nearing the end of a long day, they had closed one case and opened another. Some where in the process Alex had lost her watch. "Hey Goren, what time is it?"

"It's time to call it a day and get out of here" he replied.

Alex and Bobby organized the work on their desks and grabbed their coats. They walked out together and got on the elevator.

"So, you got plans for the weekend?" Bobby asked.

"Nope, just cleaning and shopping." Alex answered.

Just then the elevator jerked to a halt between floors and the main lights went out leaving them in a red glow of the emergency lighting. Alex reaches over and pushes the emergency button and the phone rings.

"Detective Goren, elevator 2"

"Sorry detective," the repair technician said, "the power is out in the whole building, and it will be a while before we can get you out."

"Ok, keep us posted"

Bobby explained the situation to Alex and she used her cell phone to call Captain Ross and let him know.

"Well then, did you have any immediate plans for tonight?" Bobby asked.

"Nothing definite but a few I was considering." Alex replied

"Such as"

"Well, there is this guy that I have had my eye on for quite a while. I was thinking, maybe I could invite him over or out for drinks, maybe some dinner and find out if he might feel the same way."

Bobby started getting visibly upset, and started pacing the small area. How could she do this to him? If she hooked up with another guy, he might never get his chance.

"How well do you know this guy Eames?"

"About as well as I know you" she replied

"What if you only think you do?"

"Oh, I can handle what ever surprises he might have." Alex said with confidence.

"But what if he is a serial killer or something?" Bobby half yelled

"Do I look stupid to you?" She replied, starting to get irritated with him.

"Of course not" He said placating "Tell you what, when we get out of here, I'll run a check on him and see if he has a sheet."

"Bobby, why are you so upset. It's not like this is the first time I considered going out with a guy in the last 8 years.""Look, with everything else that has happened lately, I just couldn't handle it if something happened to you"

"Is that really all that is bothering you? Nothing is going to happen to me. I'm a big girl and can take care of myself."

"Please Eames, just give me his name, I just want to know you'll be safe." Even if he didn't find something, he would make it up. Bobby just couldn't take the risk that she would fall in love with someone else.

"OK, his name is…"

"Yeah?"

"His name is Robert Goren"

"Huh??"

"I said his name is Robert Goren, now will I be safe do you think or should we run that check just to be sure?"

Bobby picked Alex up and gently pinned her to the wall of the elevator. Alex wrapped her legs around his waist. Once the started kissing, neither wanted to ever stop. Eventually though they had to come up for air.

"I take it, that's a yes?" Alex asked

"Oh yeah, it's definitely a yes"

Just as they start kissing again the power comes on and the elevator starts moving. Alex starts laughing. "So Goren, want to get some drinks or dinner or something?"

"Definitely something"
