Facing The Future-Together

So this is my very first Downton Abbey fic. It's set in the morning after Anna and John Bates's wedding night. I haven't actually seen it but I do have a rough idea of what happens with John and Vera, etc etc. I'm quite a few episodes in to Series 1, Series 2 is coming in the post so if I write any more Downton fics, they will improve as I watch the series!

This is just a little fluffy one-shot :)

And please be nice seeing as this is my first Downton fic! I usually write New Tricks stuff!

Anna could scarcely believe it when she woke up in the hotel room, snuggled up in John's arms. They were a married couple now. It was like a dream come true for her.

John was asleep beside her, she rolled over to face him.

Suddenly, he stirred. Anna closed her eyes and pretended to be asleep.

"Anna, are you awake?" he asked. She kept her eyes closed. "You tease! I know that you are awake, because your eyelids keep fluttering." John said.

"I thought I'd fooled you" Anna replied, opening her eyes. "Not a chance" John answered.

"Are you all right? I mean, after last night?" John asked. "Why shouldn't I be?" Anna responded, confused. "Do you, um, hurt?" John enquired, blushing slightly.

"Well... I do, a little. But I'll be all right." Anna reassured him. He smiled in relief. "Good."

"I rather enjoyed it, actually." Anna winked.

John smiled at this. "I never thought that you'd be this confident with me when I married you" he said.

"Well, I'm full of surprises!" she giggled, giving him a kiss.

"Anna... I know that it may be a little soon, but what do you want... in the future? After all this mess concerning Vera's death has cleared up?" John asked her gently.

Anna frowned for a moment thinking.

"Well... I'd like a child." She answered nervously. John's face lit up. "Really?" he replied.

"Yes. I've listened to Mr Carson's tales of Lady Mary as a child many a time, I think I would perhaps like to have a baby." she smiled. "Do you?" she asked.

"Yes, I should like it very much." John gave her a gentle smile.

"You will stand by me, won't you? Whatever happens?" he continued.

Anna took his hand and gripped it gently. "Yes, I promise. Whatever happens, I'll stand by you, I promise. I love you, John Bates" she smiled. "I love you too, Anna Bates." He replied.

A/N

Does anyone want me to continue with this? Maybe Anna and John will have a baby? (It will not be complete fluff though!)
