Hello people of the world! I am back with another one of my stories! This one is about Preyna, dedicated to, -er, my imagination! I really love this ship, so I hope you enjoy this!
Reyna POV
I thought it was perfect, though nothing can be perfect. It shattered as soon as it came.
Earlier this year, Jason and Piper broke up, but they were still on good terms. Piper said that she wanted to be a free spirit, not wanting any sorts of love in her mind. Jason understood, and came home as praetor. After that, we sort of fell together.
At first, it was heaven. I had the boy of my dreams with me, and we helped lead the Romans as one.
Soon, I found that I was wrong.
Very wrong.
The Greek portion of the Seven was visiting New Rome, and there was a huge party thrown for celebration. It was atmosphere was cheerful, and every one seemed to have a terrific demeanor.
Nope, not for long.
It was sunset, and all the couples went to the Garden of Bacchus, where the best view was offered. I couldn't help feel my heart flutter when Jason grabbed my hand, and pulled me close. But this time, Jason took my hand, but his grip was a bit harsh. I looked at those blue eyes, and my instinct told me something was wrong.
"Jason, what's wrong?" I asked. Jason gave me a cold stare, and walked away. I glanced at my former crush, and it seemed for him to have the same ordeal. Annabeth was walking away, her path angled toward Jason. They soon met at the bottom of the hill, where they linked hands for the rest of us to see. As that was happening, I didn't notice Percy had come over to me.
When they joined hands, my instinct had sent swooping feelings in my stomach. The two suddenly locked lips, and from that, my knees gave way, and I collapsed, the first time anyone other than Hylla has seen me do that. I couldn't believe what was going on. When I collapsed (no shame here), Percy had to catch me. My heart was shattering, and there was no mending it. Jason cheated on me in front of all the couples of New Rome and Camp Half- Blood.
My heart rate increased, and tears formed in my eyes. I saw, through the tears, the others have left giving Percy and I some time. I ran over to the bench that was near by, and Percy came too.
"Reyna." Percy whispered softly, his hand caressing my hair. If anyone other than someone I loved, I would have poked with my dagger. Without warning, the dam I had created broke, causing tears flooded out of my eyes. I had never cried like this before.
Percy also had small tears in his eyes, but he still remained strong. His hand dropped down to wipe the tears off of my cheeks.
"Shh, don't cry." Percy coaxed, whispering in my ear, wiping the tears off my cheeks. I couldn't, the pain was unbearable, almost as harsh as being separated from Hylla. The tears cascaded like a waterfall. A sound of laughter rang through the air. Annabeth and Jason appeared, close to us.
"So, little Reyna has started to cry." Annabeth mused, and Percy stood up, standing protectively in front of me.
Thank you, Percy. My mind said, as I watched them argue, countering, counter arguing, countering the counter. However, this felt weird. I was not used to being protected, it was usually me who protected the others.
"I just want to talk to my girlfriend." Jason said, and I stood up.
"Girlfriend? It's clear, Jason Grace, you don't want to be my boyfriend." I snapped, "You cheated on me in front of me, in front of the Roman soldiers."
His 'cheerful' smile fell, and Annabeth tugged him away. Once they were out of both eye and earshot, I broke down again. This time, the dam had officially broke. There was no repairing it.
"You can't hold it forever Reyna," Percy whispered, "Just let it all out if you need."
I took his advice, and vent out all my emotions.
It took me a while to calm down.
"Percy, do you like me?" I asked, whispering, once I caught his staring at me. Percy blushed, and nodded. Something caught my eye, and I looked down.
There, down in the Forum, Jason and Annabeth were trying to boss everyone around, but no one would listen. A smile slowly got etched on my face.
"Reyna, I…" Percy faltered, trying to say something. His face was slightly pink, which I thought was really cute.
Stop these thoughts. I will not allow anymore love interests. I ordered my mind. I couldn't stop it.
"Reyna, should we go back down." Percy said, standing up. He offered his hand to me, and I accepted it. We both blushed a bit, and as soon as I got up, I dropped his hand. A quick flash of disappointment flickered across his face, but as soon as it came, it went away. Together, we made our way down to where the party was still going.
"Screw Praetor Jason!" someone yelled.
"Cheater cheater, pumpkin eater!"
"We need a new praetor!"
Percy and I came down to see that.
"Romas, be quiet." I ordered, barely speaking. They all stopped, and Octavian pushed his way to the front.
"Romans! We…" Octavian started, and Percy cut him off.
"Octavian, Praetor Reyna has a voice, and can speak for herself. She is praetor, not you." Percy stated, calmly. He looked furious, like he was going to murder Percy.
"I call a Senate Meeting. Percy Jackson, come." I ordered, and another person tried to follow us.
"I leave Annabeth Chase in the custody of the First." I added, and a glint caught the centurion's eye. He nodded, and left, dragging a furious Annabeth.
The Senate assembled, and everyone took their seats.
"Senate, we are here to discuss the choices of praetor," I said, starting the meeting, "Jason Grace, stand up, state why you are praetor."
Jason stood up, "I became praetor because I earned this position."
The rest of the Senate frowned, and the Lares shook their head. Octavian looked at me hopefully, hoping that I would choose him.
Not a chance. I thought.
"Who thinks I deserve the position of praetor?" Jason asked, and no one raised their hand. He sat down, upset.
"Percy Jackson, stand up, and state the reasons why you would be a praetor."
Percy stood, "I know I am not a full Roman, but I think I have proved myself to be worthy of one. Fighting by your side, helping unify the demigods, and earning your trust helps me. I have the best interests for us, like making sure the elders are safe, and financing the Camp."
Everyone nodded, except for Octavian, who scowled. All the other hands were raised, and the Lares did the same.
"Jason Grace, surrender your praetor position, and your praetor cape to Percy Jackson." I ordered, voice ringing across the room.
Jason took off his praetor cape, and uniform, and all he was wearing was a purple T-Shirt, and jeans. While he did that, Jason was glaring daggers at Percy and me.
"Jackson, you will regret this." Jason growled, and left.
"Senate, dismissed." I ordered, and they left. Percy stayed behind.
"Percy." I raised my hand to get his attention, "We should get another clean set."
He nodded, and we left the room together.
"Percy, what do you feel as being praetor again?" I asked. A silence followed.
*-* I am too lazy to write anything ;)*-*
"Oh jeez." Percy muttered, looking at the agenda we had to do today. There was a lot of things that we had to do.
"Percy, you do the outside training, and I will take the office things." I offered, and he nodded. A confident smile was given to me, and I melted.
That cursed smile.
I sat down in the chair, looking over the plan.
Financial plans:
~Money for the upgrade on Neptune's temple
~Money for creating more barracks: Legions getting crowded
~Money for renovating the Praetor and Bath houses
Added total: $1,050,700 mortal money (tax included), or 100,000 golden drachmas
There was no way we could get that. I started to brainstorm ideas, and wrote down the plans for that idea. Hours passed, and soon, night fell. I didn't notice until Percy came into the room.
"Reyna, we gotta go to bed." Percy called, standing from the doorway. I glanced up, and Percy was there, standing in his praetor uniform. I thought it looked quite nice on him.
"Percy, how was trying to teach the disarming technique?" I asked, curious. He made a face.
"Most of the others were complaining on how hard it was." Percy reported, and I rolled my eyes. The rest of the walk was in silence. I couldn't help think about how it would be if I was with him.
Jason was a mistake. He never really loved you. I reminded myself, Percy is kind, loyal, brave, helpful, and caring person. He would never do something that Jason would do.
I then realized I had reached my home.
"Good night." I said briskly before walking into my home. Percy nodded, and trudged away. I watched him go inside, and as soon as he went in, I went in as well. I suddenly felt an uncomfortable sensation overtake my legs, and I sat down on my bed. It was true, my legs were a bit sore.
I rubbed cold water over my legs, and soon, they returned to normal. I went off to bed, and tried to sleep, to no avail. Thoughts still flitted across my mind, and soon, I did fall asleep.
Percy POV
My eyes instantly shot open as soon as the morning sun peeked its head across the horizon line.
Reyna. My mind thought first. I heard soft footsteps, and I pretended to sleep, knowing that Reyna had come.
"Go away, Annabeth. You are a cheater." I muttered, pretending to sleep talk, "I said to go away. I like Reyna, not you."
A quick silence followed my proclamation, and I really did like Reyna.
"Percy, only if I could tell you. I really did like you, even though it seemed not. I really wish I could be your girlfriend, but after Annabeth cheated on you, I am not sure. Every minute I spend with you is like being reunited with Hylla. Every time you give me your smile makes me warm. It is a treat." Reyna whispered, and she softly padded out of the room. I waited for at least ten minutes before I opened my eyes, and I shot out of my bed.
Reyna had told me her feelings. Reyna had told me her feelings. Reyna had told me her feelings.
I changed at breakneck speed, and I ran out, putting on the armour. I saw Reyna standing at the edge of the principia, waiting for me.
"Reyna." I said, and grabbed her wrist. I led her to the office, and locked the door.
"Percy, what…" Reyna faltered. I didn't answer. Well, I technically did answer. I pushed her against the wall, and kissed her. She relaxed into it, and we moved in synchronization. I don't know how, but we were soon on the floor, and I had my arms around her. I left a small trail of kisses along her neck, a soft sigh escaping her lips.
"Reyna, I really do like you." I said, and a genuine smile appeared on her face. Not the I-will-beat-you-into-pulp smile I was used to.
"I need to kiss you all over again if you smile!" I protested, and she pushed me off.
"Percy, we need to start on today's things." Reyna countered.
"Ugh, fine."
Reyna flipped to today's agenda, and I breathed a sigh of relief. There was not much:
~Start money management plan
~Cleanup Rome event
~Renovate the Bath and Praetor Houses
"Reyna, what should we do first?" I asked, completely clueless. (Me as Percy: Okay, I did not just say that…)
"We should do the Cleanup Rome event, it should only take until 9 if we are fast enough." Reyna said, rolling her eyes. I sighed, and went to wake everyone up. Some early people started to get up, and I requested them to wake the others. Soon, every groggy person was awake, and no one was left behind.
"We need your attention!" I called, and everyone fell silent.
"Once a month, we clean up Rome. It has come again. *insert everyone groaning* First and Second, to the city. Third and Fourth, to the parks. Fifth, help Percy with the lake in the Garden. Once you are done, come back here. Dismissed." Reyna ordered, and everyone left, mumbling about how much they hated this event. Once everyone left, Reyna's posture sank down almost a foot. I clearly noticed something was wrong, something was out of place.
"Reyna, what's wrong?" I asked, and her obsidian eyes loosing it's shine.
"Percy, even with another praetor, I feel like I am cracking under this pressure." Reyna confessed, and her tone made me wince.
"Reyna, you are forcing yourself to take my duties as well. You can't hold it forever. You need to relax." I advised, she nodded, "I'll go to the lake in the Garden now."
I set off at a brisk pace, and my mind kept asking me one question: Why does Reyna force herself to take all this pressure?
I had a ton of theories of why, but there was one that stood out: relief from the past that I caused.
As soon as I thought that, I had guilt weigh down my chest. I had forced her to be almost destroyed when I demolished C. C's island. I had separated her from Hylla, and I made her have to deal with life without her sister.
"Percy!" I jerked out of my thoughts to see Hazel waving me. Her frantic waving and her alarmed expression startled me. Something was wrong.
"There is no way this could've happened! It's not possible!" I cried, "The basilisks should have been noticed a while ago!"
Everyone nodded, but there was definitely a loophole in the plot someone was trying.
"Other that Reyna, me, the other couples, Grace, and Chase, who else was here after that?" I asked.
"Slime ball Octavian." someone called. He put the basilisks there. Octavian wanted to prove the Fifth couldn't do anything, even with my help. He was trying to get Reyna to kick me off the praetor position.
"Not good way to kill them." I muttered, brainstorming.
"Lure them out, and we advance from the back while some of us distract. Praetor Percy could put out the fire that they breath out." someone else suggested, and we all nodded.
"Hey uhhh, Frill Dress!" Frank taunted the basilisks, running near the edge of the water, starting the plan. The green things swam out of the water, then focused on me. Fire was breathed out, but it got extinguished as fast as it started. All of them swam out of the water, and I did a quick count. 30 in total.
I created a giant fist out of water, signalling the others to get ready to attack the basilisks.
Anytime now. I thought, and the campers attacked. Soon, all that was left was a pile of monster dust. The dust got blown away, and I turned to the lake. It was pretty clean, but there was a few pieces of stray trash. I used my water powers to bring them up, and the lake was cleaned. We all headed back to the barracks, where we were assigned our tasks. None of the other cohorts were here.
Time ticked past, and no other people appeared. It wasn't until lunchtime that they turned up.
"Well, Octavian, Larry, Hank, and Leila. (These are not OCs. It's on the website) You all took too long." I scolded, and all but Octavian looked ashamed, "All of you, go to lunch. No break after that."
After they all left, I thought of why they took so long.
Well, the First and Second I could understand, but they have the most people. It shouldn't have taken them that long. Third and Fourth, they took the parks, but there is only one park. I don't get it! I thought to myself. I didn't notice that I wasn't moving, or that Reyna had entered the room.
"Percy?"
I was shot out of my thoughts.
"Reyna, do you want to go to lunch?" I asked, and Reyna muttered something about me being a Seaweed Brain.
"Duh, of course I need to get lunch!" Reyna snorted, and we walked out together. Whispers seemed to follow us, and eyes followed our path.
"…together"
"…rumors"
"Reyna, why are people staring at us? It's getting kinda creepy." I commented.
"They think we are together, which I would like." Reyna whispered, twisting our fingers together. It wasn't painful, but I was grateful for the physical touch.
"Love you too." I whispered back, and we entered the place we eat.
It was absolute CHAOS. Food was flying everywhere, drinks were being lobbed at others, and everyone was covered in food.
"Stop!" I yelled over the din. They all stopped, and Octavian walked forward.
"Praetors…" he started. I held my hand up.
"Who started this?" I inquired. No one spoke, but they all pointed at Jason.
"We expected better of you. Next time any little funny business happens, you lose your centurion position." Reyna threatened. He shot a look at us, and fled the eating area.
"Everyone back to the barracks. No one is allowed to leave." I ordered, and everyone left, "We expected better of all of you."
"Percy, what is going on?" Reyna asked, thinking about how terrible everyone acted.
"I don't know." I answered. Our fingers entwined again, and as we went back to the office, and unexpected surprise hit us.
Okay! Not really a cliffhanger, but I hope you enjoyed this chapter! If you are lucky, I might update in a few days, instead of next week. Please review, and I will see you next time!
