Sothe and Astrid

Look at her, she doesn't even know how to put her armor on properly. She is pathetic.

The long dark haired girl was struggling to put her breastplate on.

Why I am I stuck with such novices? This will be fun. I will enjoy making a noble cry.

Sothe walked over casually and said "Hey Princess!" She was startled.

The girl gave me the dumbest look I have ever seen.

"Who me?"

Oh gee she is dumber than I thought. "Well do you see anyone else here?" She actually looked around.

"Well….no, but I am not a princess. I am a soldier."

"Hahaha, you're kidding right? You are not a soldier! You don't even know how to hold that weapon properly or put armor on." She looked down as if she was going to burst into tears.

"I am new at this, but yes I am a soldier. I ran away from home."

"Let me guess, mommy and daddy didn't give you everything you wanted? By the way you fight you should have just stayed home." This made her mad and even I felt a little bad at this point.

"Stop it! Just stop it! You! You don't know me at all! You don't know what I have been through. I am trying so hard to be strong and positive. All my life I have depended on others and I wanted to change that. I wanted to do things for myself. I wanted to work for what I have. I love my family and it was the hardest decision to leave them, but I had to if I wanted to do anything worthwhile in my life. I was engaged to a horrible man that I didn't love. I…I."

She was sobbing by the end of her speech. I felt about as big as an ant. This girl had it rough, almost as rough as me. I don't know what I could say to make her feel better.

"Listen…uhhh whats your name?"

She muttered "It's Astrid."

"Astrid, I didn't mean to make you sad or mad or whatever that was just now. I am not too fond of nobles and I figured you were just like the rest. You aren't though and I like that. If you don't mind I would like to help you learn more about fighting. You could probably teach me more about manners huh?" She smiled and nodded her head. "So does that mean you forgive me too?"

"Yes….may I ask your name? We have been talking all this time and didn't know each other's name. Isn't that funny?"

"Yeah I guess, and the name's Sothe."

"Sothe, well nice to meet you for real, Sothe."

She stuck her hand out and I shook it.

"This might be the start of a wonderful friendship Sothe."

I smirked a little. "Yeah whatever."
