This is dedicated to my partner in crime, Miyavilurver. Jeanne is her Shepard and in order to comfort each other in the difficult times of Mass Effect 3, we've written fics for each other. Jeanne was in love with Thane for Mass Effect and is a Paragon Shepard. This takes place after Thane's death, and after my fic "Purgatory" (though it's not necessary to read that in order to read this one.) Hope you enjoy!
Since the attack on the Citadel that resulted in Thane's death, Jeanne Shepard found herself looking forward to one thing every day.
Shepard,
Everything for my father has been arranged. He's left everything to me. I don't think I deserve it sometimes. After what I did. I'd like to talk later when you have the time or the leave. If you want to.
-Kolyat
Shepard,
Things went well today. I won't deny that it was kind of difficult. But, I think things are going to get better. I hope you're doing well.
-Kolyat
Shepard,
I spent some time with the priests today. I hope you're doing well.
-Kolyat
Shepard,
I miss him. I hope you're doing well.
-Kolyat
Jeanne leaned back in her chair, her brows slightly furrowed as she read the email from last night. She had gotten several over the past few weeks and had responded to only some of them, her time scarce and thoughts focused on little else than Cerberus and the Reapers.
But this one brought her back a bit. This one made her remember her lover. Thane. She started typing, the quiet bubbling of the fish tank in her cabin being the only sound.
Kolyat,
I know this has all been hard for you and I'm glad to hear that you're dealing with it well. Your father would have been proud. He was always proud. He talked to me about you a lot. If it's worth anything, I'm also proud of you.
I miss him too. I hope you're doing well.
-Shepard
She clicked send after a few moments before moving and collapsing on her bed. Her hand slowly stretched out, gently running her fingertips across the sheets where Thane used to lay. Her eyes welled up with tears but she pushed them back. Jeanne pursed her lips together and closed her eyes tightly, willing back the stabbing pain in her chest.
Her omni-tool beeped then, letting her know of a new message. She didn't bother to get up and instead checked her messages from her omni-tool
Shepard,
Thank you, Kana.
-Kolyat
Jeanne frowned a bit, reading the short email before highlighting the unfamiliar word and looking up a translation.
Tears spilled from her eyes and she put a hand over her mouth, finally crying. Becoming undone.
