The woman's eyes were vicious as she looked down her nose at Mads, doing her best to look after the drunk and injured woman lying on the bed. She had been quiet and meek whilst the tall Scottish doctor had been in the room, but now she opened her mouth to speak.

"Why don't you just go home?"

Mads looked up from bandaging the young woman's bleeding arm. "Excuse me?"

"You heard me. Go home. You don't deserve to be here. Taking our jobs. You were in the newspaper, weren't you? Couldn't speak English." The woman's eyes, soft and innocent just a few moments ago were hard and cold.

Mads said nothing, keeping her eyes on the bandages. A hot pricking feeling appeared behind her eyes and she blinked furiously, trying to dispel it.

"If you could speak English, the shooter wouldn't have got back in, would he?"

Mads still said nothing, but her hands shook as she tried to tie the bandage. She thought she heard the door open, but then the woman pulled her arm away and she got distracted, looking up at the patient with her wide brown eyes full of surprise and hurt.

"Don't touch me. You disgust me."

Unable to listen to the poison dripping from the patients mouth any longer, Mads pushed her way through the door, moving past Lenny without really registering his presence. If she had done she would have noticed the cold, undiluted fury on his face, the rage in his eyes and the way his knuckles had turned white after balling his hands into fists. He looked to her, then back at the patient, unsure of what he should do. He stood in the door looking at the woman, Georgia, lying on the bed. When he spoke, his voice was little louder than a whisper, but terrifyingly cold.

"Don't you dare talk to her like that. You. Have. No. Right." He hissed, wishing nothing more than to hurt the woman but restraining himself. "Mads is ten times the person you'll ever be. And let me tell you something else," he continued, stepping towards her and towering over her. "If you ever speak to her like that ever again, I will personally ensure your removal from this hospital, and a call to Social Services to inform them about the state we found your children in when we picked you up."

He shoved the door open violently, letting it swing shut behind him. He left recus with only one thought in his mind - Find Mads. He sent Adam back into recus to deal with Georgia. He wanted nothing more to do with her.

He wasn't sure why he had this irrational need to find Mads. Sure, they were friends, but this felt...new. It was strange. The rest of the world dissolved into a blur, the voices and faces all mingling into one as he pushed past people, desperately searching for her face. He tried the usual spots - the bathrooms, the lounge, the on call room, the canteen and even the cubicles. Eventually he grabbed his hoodie and walked outside into the cool night, zipping it up as he walked.

AN - So this is MUCH shorter than I intended, but hey! This will be updated on a vaguely regular basis. I'll try to make the next one longer, promise! Belle xx
