Nyctophilia
Akira doesn't like the dark.
At home it's alright, because he can hear his father and brother snoring, and the mutters of his older sister talking in her sleep. They are all familiar noises, and he finds them strangely comforting.
At school, there is none of that. There are not even the snores of a roommate to lull him- he has a room to himself, just as Haru-nii did; his room is in fact Haru-nii's old one. Somehow, even the knowledge that his brother once slept in this room fails to soothe him.
So, sometimes, he sneaks out of his room in the middle of the night, silent as a cat.
And he goes to a room that he knows the way to by heart, not needing to look at the passage markers to find it. He pushes open the door, careful not to make a sound, and pads across the floor to a set of bunk beds. He hesitates a moment, before crawling into the bottom one.
And warm arms wrap around him, gentle blue eyes peer down at him, lids heavy with sleep, and he thinks that maybe the dark isn't so bad after all.
(Title meaning: Love of the night)
