Okay, so this is a poem I wrote. I thought it was pretty good. It's called "Mark of Cain". Takes place after Volume 6.

'With my lips on your brow

I placed upon you the Mark of Cain.

None shall hurt you

Save for me.

Only I may wield the final sword

To end your speeches;

To silence that poisonous heart.

I hate you and yet…

I love you.

And I will hunt you down

To show you

Who is the master now."

And so Cain gently released Riff's fallen body into the bubbling rapids of the river, watching as his beloved fell down, down to the depths of the inky waters, down into the pits of Hell where Cain hoped his once faithful servant, now traitor, would burn for all eternity. Cain never prayed, had never believed in a Higher Power, but now…now he prayed for Riff, prayed that his betraying nature would ease in death. He loved him once, had believed in him, but Riff's poisonous, treacherous heart had divided them. And Cain knew what he had done was right, that by destroying Riff he had eased the guilt in his own heart. Cain whispered his goodbyes and turned away, walking away forever from the only one his heart had ever known.
