It wasn't quite a matter of what he had lost, but how he had lost it.

"Damn cats."

It didn't really occur to him at first what exactly was going on, nor did it register afterwards. It was only until Kayo hesitantly and hastily nudged them out of the room that it finally sunk in.

"Go away!"

Sure it had cost him whatever bit of self preservation he had left, but he didn't think that was really much of an issue when he subconsciously exploited himself every other day anyways.

"Go play with someone else's hair for a change, huh?!"

His eyes shifted ever so slightly to the side to observe himself in the mirror and the reflection standing behind him. Vaguely he realized that they really didn't look all that alike. Curious.

"So anyway, what are you gonna do?"

"About what?" He turned away from the mirror and raised his head to level his eyes with Kayo who apparently wasn't sitting too well with the situation.

She flushed, stomping her right foot on the ground, just inches away from his own and pointed to his reflection.

"Him!"

He hummed to himself and sighed as if the answer was as obvious as the sun in the sky.

"Nothing. He's not a mononoke, so really I can't do anything about him anyways."

Kayo huffed and stormed of to some place or other that wasn't his concern and glared at him over her shoulder.

"Women."

He glanced at his reflection and smiled at the remark.

It wasn't so much that his reflection had manifested himself in the 'real world', it was more of the humiliation of them both crashing back down to reality in one of their more 'intimate' moments, as awkward as that was for even him to admit to himself. No, he didn't care about what little self preservation he had, nor that that little bit of it was ripped away. It was the way he lost it and the fact that now he'd have to put up with his egotistical self until the situation was corrected.
