Zuko groaned. He had more important things to do than to join Sokka hunting. the memory of how Sokka convinced him was blank in his mind. Well, at least it was better than the stacks of paperwork back at the royal palace.
A branch smacked his head.
It was better, but barely.
"Shhh," Sokka whispered.
"Well, sorry, you know how much I like getting hit by branches," Zuko kept his voice low as he talked to Sokka.
Sokka sighed. It must have been a firenation thing, to like getting hit by branches. He crept as silently as he could, hoping to catch a beaver-fox by surprise. Just as he had his eye on one, Sokka heard a thump behind him, followed by a gurgling sound coming from Zuko.
How did Zuko get himself face down in a puddle of mud? Seemingly the only puddle of mud in the whole forest? There weren't even any rocks he could have tripped on! And he scared the beaver-fox away too! Well, Zuko's face when he looked up was worth more than the beaver-fox, Sokka had to admit.
"Can we go home now?" Zuko asked.
"Not until we catch something, which I don't think we will if you keep falling into mud puddles! I mean, really, I thought you would be good at this, with all your stealthiness and-," Sokka was interrupted by a loud quack.
"There, I caught us a turkey duck, now can we go back?" Zuko asked impatiently.
"Fine, but we're going to keep coming out here until you can properly catch an animal!" Sokka answered as they went to collect the turkey duck. "Hey! The meat is charred!"
"That tends to happen when you hit things with fire daggers," Zuko stated, flatly.
Sokka grumbled, picked up the turkey-duck, and stalked away, Zuko following him.
