"I want you." He whispered into my ear and I wrapped my arms around him lovingly.
"I want you, too." I admitted and ran my hand down his back.
Suddenly, he let out a heavy sigh and rolled over me, watching his ceiling fan rotate in circles. I propped myself up on my elbow and stared at him with confusion. "What's wrong?" I asked, concerned. He sat up and grabbed his t-shirt that had been hanging on one of his bed posts. He yanked it on and stood up, rubbing the back of his head before bending down to pick my own shirt up. He tossed it at me.
"What are you doing?" I inquired stupidly as he opened his bedroom door, gesturing for me to get out.
"I'm sorry." He shook his head. I got up and walked over to him, grabbing his hand and lacing my fingers with his.
"About?"
He stared down at me, I neglected my shirt he had collected for me and held it tight in my left hand.
"Jimmy?" I said sharply, he sucked on his bottom lip and avoided my eyes.
"I think you should just go." It wasn't a suggestion, his voice was way too demanding. I allowed myself to look at him for a few more seconds before throwing on my t-shirt and snatching my bag off the ground. I shot him the dirtiest look I could muster before walking past him towards the staircase.
I jumped down the steps, three stairs at a time and felt my eyes tear up slowly. I came to a stop at the Brooks door, my hand resting on the golden doorknob. Tears cascaded down my face and I heard him coming from behind me.
He pulled me into a hug and remained holding me for what seemed like hours. I cried softly into his chest and he repeated apologies as I gripped him tighter.
"I love you, Jimmy Brooks." I said quietly, regretting the words the minute they came out my mouth. My heart pounded, dreading what his answer might be if he even had one. I swallowed hard as a new eruption of tears flooded from my eyes.
"I love you too." He said calmly, raising my chin and providing a gentle kiss on my very flushed right cheek. I understood why he behaved the way he did, minutes before.
"How relieving." I joked and I stood on my toes to give him a peck on the forhead. He laughed and grabbed both of my hands.
"I can drive you home." A fresh tear slid down my face, dragging my black eyeliner with it. He wiped it away with his thumb and I nodded.
