His Lady and Nothing More

Obi enjoyed watching Shirayuki and Zen walk through the castle together. It was like watching two kids figuring out love for the first time and he enjoyed watching his Master's unguarded expressions as he talked to Shirayuki. But sometimes he couldn't help but feel a twinge of jealousy start to rise in his heart as he saw them hold hands.

But his feelings for his Lady couldn't go farther than a crush. He knew this as a fact.

So he encouraged Zen to propose to Shirayuki so they could live happily together as he served them as their loyal servant and bodyguard. If he couldn't love Shirayuki as his lover, he would love her as his Master and dearest friend.

Zen stopped walking through the hallway with Shirayuki and turned his head around to Obi. "Hey, what's the matter? You look upset." The Prince asked with concern.

"Hm? Oh it's nothing Master. I'm just a little bit tired that's all..." Obi said with a sly smile. "Don't worry about me."

Shirayuki let go of Zen's hand and walked up to Obi. She put her hand on his forehead and looked up at him gently. "You don't feel like you've caught a cold. But it wouldn't hurt if I gave you a check up later on-"

"Honestly Miss I'm OK!" Obi said, chuckling as he gently brought Shirayuki's hand down from his forehead. "But if it makes you feel better I'll go take a nap now."

Before Shirayuki or Zen could stop him, Obi turned around from his Masters and gave them a wave. "Don't get too flirtatious while I'm asleep!"

Even without turning around to look at them he knew their faces were as red as Shirayuki's hair. Once he got far enough away from them, Obi took a detour and went to the rooftop of the castle. The sun was about to set and the first stars of the night were becoming visible.

"Man...I really gotta get myself together." Obi scolded himself with a defeated voice. "I love them both so much and I shouldn't want anything more than their happiness. But that doesn't mean it doesn't...hurt."

Obi clenched at his heart and fought back the tears. Childish tears he knew were fueled by selfish and confused emotions.
