AN: The characters and setting are not mine.

She's my best kept secret, as I am hers. Our public act is just that – an act. A façade. Something we do to reassure ourselves that the world hasn't gone mad around us, without us noticing. Because there's just no way we can be together. Oh, we're both pureblood, that's not the issue. It's who we are. We're well known for our fights – they're infamous. The whole of Hogwarts used to turn out to watch us, and it's the same now in the Ministry. They place bets on who's going to win each time, we know they do.

She's as passionate in bed as she is in everything else she does. I knew she would be, that's why I started this… thing with her. I intended it to be just a fling – a few times and then I'd end it. But I can't. She's like a drug, and I'm addicted. I can't get enough of her. I'm pretty sure she feels the same way.

………………

I'm going to tell you a secret. I'm sleeping with a man so wrong for me, but it feels so right. It all started after one of our blazing rows. Just a simple comment as we stood in the lift, going back to our respective offices.

"Your place or mine, babe?"

That's what he said, I remember. I'm pretty sure I looked at him in confusion, until he explained what he wanted. I'm not usually the kind of girl who does things like that, but I was fed up of being the good girl, the one who always does what she's told. So I said yes to him. And I'm so glad I did. I'd just broken up with Harry, and he helped me to get over that. (To cut a long story short, Harry wanted to get married, and me to give up work so I could stay at home with the kids. Not something I was prepared to do. Hell, I don't even want kids. My mother would disown me if she heard that.)

But now I'm addicted to him, and what he can do to me, and that's frightening. I don't ever want this thing between us to end, but I know it'll have to one day. Like when he's fed up of me and wants a new plaything. You see, I know what he's like – he's been this way since we were at Hogwarts.

………………

"Morning."

Ginny Weasley looks up from her desk. Draco Malfoy has just walked in with a pile of paperwork.

"Any chance you could sign these with me this morning?"

"Hand them over, I'll do them now."

"Thanks."

As she takes the pile, a small object falls out onto the desk. Picking it up, she realises it's a black velvet jeweller's box. Looking up at Draco, she raised one eyebrow, before opening the box to reveal the most stunning diamond ring she's ever seen.

"I'm sick of all the pretending, Gin. Will you marry me?"

"Of course I will. But how are we going to explain this to everyone? They think we hate each other."

"Let them figure it out for themselves," he laughed.
