Whenever I See Someone Less Fortunate Than I...

"I mean, I could make you look tough. You look pretty tiny right now."

Barriss looked up from her small bed on the opposite her younger roommate, Ahsoka Tano. The girl, though quite short and cocky, was easily the most popular girl there at Shiz. The reason being, she could easily destroy anyone who got in her way. She had once gotten into a fist fight with all three of the Koon triplets at once. And won.

Barriss declared to herself on the first day of being stuck in the same dorm with this girl that they would be mortal enemies. Barriss was quiet, and, while not shy, did not particularly like being the center of attention. Her green skin made sure that she always was, and she had simply grown quite tired of it. Her new roommate, however, craved attention. The two were polar opposites, and so far nothing had proved to Barriss that they could make nice for the whole year.

"Hello? Barrie? Anyone in there?" Barriss lifted herself out of her thoughts to see Ahsoka seated on the end of her bed, her head cocked innocently. "I said I could make you look...y'know, more intimidating. Maybe not as intimidating as me," She smiled a sharp-toothed grin, her dyed-blonde pigtails bobbing at her shoulders. Barriss rolled her eyes as inconspicuously as she could manage.

"C'mon! I betcha we can do it. I've seen worse." The girl screwed up her face and mumbled, "Well, not much worse." Barriss sighed.

" , if it will keep you quiet, please, be my guest," Ahsoka grinned at this, standing quickly and bouncing on the balls of her feet.

"Okay, see all this?" Ahsoka pulled Barriss to a mirror, then gestured to her entire being. "This needs to be this." She then gestured to her own attire, including the absence of cloth to show off just the right amount of cleavage and the muscle she was now flexing. Barriss looked away, blushing slightly.

"Awww, come on, Barrie! Don't feel bad! You'll look just as cool soon enough, I promise!"

Barriss sighed loudly.

"Really, Ahsoka, I am happy how I am."

The other girl let out a loud 'Pfffftttt" and held her stomach in mock laughter.

"That's a good one!" Barriss gave Ahsoka a look, to which the other girl paused mid-laugh. "Oh, you're serious? Really?"

Barriss crossed her arms and looked away, to which the shorter girl began to frantically try to fix her mess.

"No, no, I mean, I don't think you're ugly! I just- I mean you, you just have a certain air about you, and you just seem - That's not what I mean, really, I mean -" A dark blush grew on Ahsoka's caramel skin. "I just - I thought you wanted help, I mean - you're beautiful now, Barrie."

The two looked at each other, and Barriss smiled, deciding it would be worth it to give this girl a chance if she she always acted so bashful and hopeless when she got flustered.

"Why don't we start? I'm sure at least my dress could use some work." To that, Ahsoka grinned and bounced away to her closet.

Really, Ahsoka wasn't truly that bad. Just young, and excited, and too cocky for her own good. Maybe she acted that way to protect herself, or something, Barriss mused. She looked herself up and down, then glanced to Ahsoka's giant, childish grin beside her.

Yes. Ahsoka wasn't that bad.
