A/N: Here is another little Camp Rock drabble. It's kind of a Smitchie. And you would assume it was set multiple (and I mean multiple) years into the future. I'm not sure how many but more than five and less than ten. I'm kind of on the fence about it. I like it, but I'm not sure it came out as great as it could have. I feel like some of these Smitchie ideas I get are like extensions of the little paragraphs I wrote for Just The Girl, but they still turn out okay (and a little different too). Anyway, here it is, Enjoy and R&R! Thanks! –Mac
Disclaimer: I don't own CR.
Priorities In Order
"What do you mean 'no?" The guy from the label (Shane could never remember his name) was yelling at him.
He had started the meeting by telling them that the new tour for Connect 3 had sold out in every venue within hour and it hadn't even started yet. But before he could get the words 'extend' and 'tour' our, Shane had said no. His problem wasn't so much that Shane had said no, but that Nate and Jason had backed him up 100. They were in complete agreement with his reasoning—despite it being somewhat personal to him. He was like their brother, if this was what he wanted they would go for it.
"I mean, 'no'," Shane responded. "It's a matter of priorities. I've seen my girlfriend three times in the last two months. Between studio time, performances, appearances and all that other stuff…I've had little to no time to see her. Once the tour starts, I'll barely e able to call her."
"You're not the only one with relationship problems, Shane."
"It's hard enough on her as it is, I will not willingly do something to hurt her more."
"Every person dating someone high profile in Hollywood has to make due. If your little girlfriend can't handle it—"
"I plan on proposing to my 'little girlfriend' after the tour ends," Shane jumped out of his seat angrily, "So if you have a problem with my 'little girlfriend,' you should tell me, and we can cancel the whole damn tour right now, because she is the most important thing in my life right now and I will not do anything to jeopardize that."
Shane whipped around and stalked over to the opposite side of the room. This was one subject that could get him really riled up. He wanted to take a deep breath and collect himself before he got too angry at the label guy (what was his name?) Shane listened as Nate began to talk to the label guy calmly. Although his back was turned on them, Shane could picture Nate leaning closer to the label guy to try and make his point more clear.
"He's not kidding about backing out of the tour," Nate said, "And if he goes, we go with him."
"You can't be serious," The label guy exclaimed.
"He is…completely," Nate corrected. "Listen Jared," (Jared, that was his name!), "You can either leave the tour as it is—we go, play every concert, and then Shane comes back to propose to Mitchie as planned—or you can have then entire tour be cancelled because the band refuses to play. It's up to you."
Jared hesitated but then replied, "Your fans are going to be disappointed."
"They'll live," Nate shrugged.
"The higher ups aren't going to be happy either," Jared added.
Shane turned back, "Would they be happy if they found out you lost the tour and band entirely?"
Jared only swallowed in response. He stood and prepared to leave. He gathered his things and headed toward the door. As he passed Shane, he stopped to say, "I'm sorry I got into you about your girlfriend. She's really a nice girl."
Shane smiled, "She really is."
