Author's Note: The reason I wrote this fic was I was listening to some anime openings today, and when it came to Death Note, (the first half of season one), I realized I had gotten up and danced. So, curious, I looked up the english translation to the lyrics. They were beautiful, so I wrote this. The song is The World, by NIGHTMARE. Enjoy!
Light Yagami was crying on the inside, secretly, thinking about L. L, that wonderful, frustrating man that he could never have. L, who was trying to tear up everything he worked for.
We exchanged promises of revolution in expanding darkness...
Why did he have to love him of all people? To Light, he was evil, to L, he was evil too. They were destined to be set apart, but then why did Light crave him?
I loved you, so the flower of evil sprouted.
They might've been together, for all they knew. Not even their brilliant minds could've fathomed other possibilities for them. But things were what they were, and Light couldn't have people stop him from ridding the world of filth.
I won't let anyone interfere with everything to come that is in the future. So there was no going back now. Time has set it's course, and Light knew this.
A fruit has told me of the future, this city has forgotten reason.
Maybe, if L would just see, loving him would be easy. But Light had to eliminate him. Something that seems wrong at first glance, can be right. L's death is nessecary to Light, but the world would be a bit bleaker. But Light had to think of the people worthy of life.
These distorted and black times will change into ideals, into dreams.
Do you not know that this is good L? That to make the world a better place, you must clean it? Everybody wants evil to end, but why are they opposed to a method that is the best? L, why don't you appreciate this?
Why? Am I a broken Messiah? The "end" that everyone has wished for...
If only you had not crossed the line L, then maybe he could have shown you a world with peace at last. But that could never be done.
One day I will show you, the sky that shine with light.
Maybe in another setting, things would have been different. If only, if only...
One day I will show you, the world that shines with light.
Author's Note: Some verses repeated, so I skipped them. I'm on Team L, but I'm writing from Light's perspective, which is interesting. Please check out the full version of this wonderful song. Thank you!~The Monochrome Kiss.
