"For each person there is a sentence – a series of words- which has the power to destroy them"
Words a wise man had uttered and has passed on through years, being quoted over and over again.
These words were something Tobio Kageyama had heard from his parents since he was little. He had memorized it. After all, his parents wouldn't repeat something that does not have a consequence. They wouldn't repeat something that has no value.
So, he kept those words in mind every time he spoke.
Only, he never could figure out which words belonged to whom.
Words may affect one person negatively, but end up motivating someone else.
He never could've predicted that the words that would destroy his best friend so completely, so utterly, that nothing else managed to heal him…He never imagined that it would be his words… he could never had imagined that it would be his sarcastic response that would be the cause…..
That when Hinata Shoyo, after a long day and a single defeat by an opposing team, asks a single question… that Tobio's sarcastic reply, writhed within his own self-loathing at that time, would crush Hinata so.
"Do you regret having me as a partner?"
… and Kageyama would always hate himself for the single word he had replied with, "Yes."
