Disclaimer- I own Nothing of Van Helsing

Chapter One

A Distancing Pain

Within a matter of months he'd be returning to Rome. It wasn't every day someone of his magnitude fell to the influence of love, but now he was dead inside just like his sweet, beloved Anna. Van Helsing knew that she was happier with her family in heaven yet he felt empty and hollow without her. His heart was lost and tired. Her dead eyes board into his dreams. Her still warm body sunk into death's cold hands within his very arms. Her sacrifice that will never be repaid by my prayers or death he thought deeply. He yearned for a chance to prove himself that he'd always love her. He begged God for death but none came. Was he really ready to die for Anna? Anna certainly was for him.

"Van Helsing?" Jinnett looked astounded to see him.

"Yes were you expecting someone else?" Van Helsing queried gently.

"Friar Carl sent us no cable of return." Jinnett said softly.

"You expected a cable of our return… well in most instances we certainly would have but there would have been no point to it Dracula is vanquished." Carl piped up.

"Oh good and how might be Princess Anna." He said turning around to get something.

Van Helsing's heart skipped three beats as he dropped to the floor. Carl picked him up. Jinnett turned back around with a bottle of wine.

"Best wine in Europe-he dropped the bottle as he saw Van Helsing- my God what has happened to him." Jinnett yelled.

"Hallow deaths of the last Valeriouses Cardinal Jinnett, " said a voice from somewhere beyond Van Helsing, Carl, and Cardinal Jinnett. It was a womanly voice, soft and cold like winter snow.

"Who are you? How did you get here? "

"That's the least of your worries right now you have murder on your hands." The mysterious woman uttered with a malicious smile.

Van Helsing could only hear dull roars of voices as his eyes shut carelessly.
