He loved her.
Everything about her. Her eyes, her laugh, her smile. Her warmth and kindness reached deep into his soul, touching places he hadn't known the existence of. She was by his side.
He couldn't pinpoint the exact time he fell in love with her. At the summer house though, he was certain. His defense of her had been automatic. The thought of her being hurt made his blood run cold. That's when he realized he would give his life for hers. So, he watched her.
Although she was kind to everyone, he began to notice something. She was more attentive to him, more comfortable with him, even had a smile meant only for him.
He understood no one could help but love her. But something burned and died in him when he perceived the way he acted. He was gentle with her, kind to her, his eyes said what he didn't. He loved her.
No matter how much he wanted her to see him that way, he wanted her to be happy. So he tried to push them together in his own way. He talked to him, careful to hide what he felt.
He continued to watch them. Every look, smile, touch was like a stab in the heart. Although she didn't seem to see how he felt, the rest of them did.
In the end, he decided to just spend time with her. He didn't know what was going to happen, the future. But, he felt that they were meant to be together. He wanted her to be happy. He knew that he especially deserved to be happy. He was trying, changing for her. He had to admit that he would make her happy.
He grew, matured. The girls flocked to him, she stayed by his side, but he wanted her attention. So he watched her. Hoping against hope for acknowledgement. In the end, he could only wait for the pain to dull. It had happened, they were together.
