War. That is what this was called. It wasn't just shard collecting and prancing around Japan, nor was it a simple feud for power. It was bloodshed and death, it was orphaned children and broken families. It was broken treaties and avenging those lost. It was battle plans and secret meetings. It was the messenger carrying the news of death. This was war.

For two weeks they've fought. Kagome and the rest of her allies, they've fought against Naraku and his posse. Originally, they had a very strict battle plan. Warriors had been assigned groups and the groups would rotate onto the battle field allowing everyone time to rest and regain their energy, they had even set up methods on how to remain at their strongest and how the order of the groups would prove most effective against Naraku. Overall, they had their boxes checked and had been completely prepared for the fight to come.

Except, they weren't.

Halfway through the first week, Kagome was kidnapped. Naraku had snatched her when she had been at her lowest, and for a week he held her in his captivity. He had tortured her, harming her in more ways than just physically. He had poisoned her, condemning her with a chronic poison that would never leave her system. Pain was no longer a foreign concept to the young girl. When she finally escaped after a week of torture, she fought alongside her comrades despite her unhealed injuries.

When Kagome finally did return, she realized she had launched herself into chaos. The calculated structure that she and her allies had created had promptly been tossed out the window, the level of casualties impacting their plan. The second she reached the battlefield marked the start of three days of constant battle. Everyone was exhausted, starving, and confused yet they pushed themselves for the greater good. They were all that Japan had, and if they lost the battle, that would mean the end of Japan.

Sesshomaru remained the strongest, never pausing for breath as he fought the enemy. In the heat of battle he roared and screamed, fury overtaking him as he killed those opposing him. His fury was fueled by the pain of losing Rin, whom had been killed by Naraku's hands. His pristine hair was intertwined with blood and innards, and his face was delicately spotted with the blood of his enemies.

Kouga was lost on the second day of constant battle, without the shards in his powerful legs he was able to be overrun. His remains had been mangled and horrifying, his innards spilt around the area in which he lay and his tongue had been ripped out his throat. Ayame had lost herself after discovering his body, and gained an insatiable thirst to kill. Her inner demon had taken over, extremely distraught over the loss of her intended, and she had began carelessly killing anyone in her path. She went missing and no one knew if she was dead or alive.

Despite Ayame's unknown whereabouts and Kouga's death, they had been an essential part of the defeat of Naraku. It was due to their teamwork that Kagura's heart had been retrieved and returned to her. With their contribution, Kagura had been given the freedom she had long lusted for. Kanna and Hakudoshi accompanied Kagura in allying themselves to the Inu-tachi, having befriending them once Kagome saved Kanna awhile back.

Kagome has seen how even Kanna had craved for freedom, so when the young girl had cracked, literally, Kagome worked hard to ensure that girl survived. Over time even she and Hakudoshi became close, Kagome gaining the role of an older sibling to the two. Kagura was like an unorthodox mentor to Kagome, a great teacher but rather brazen in the ways she taught. Their relationship always remained interesting, from their companionship in the privacy of each others presences, to their unlucky encounters with Naraku present.

Kagome's eyes swiveled to where Naraku was, near a great hole in the earth. The hole represented where Miroku's wind tunnel had finally grown too large, taking his and many others lives with it. Among those whom had died with Miroku was Sango, unwilling to let her love go due to his impending doom. Kirara had mourned the loss of her companion, and had attacked Naraku in her grief. A brief roar signified Kiara's death as Naraku's tentacle pierced her throat, and she was tossed aside like trash.

The toss had reminded Kagome far too much of Naraku's own actions with her dear kit, tossing Shippo at her group on the day the battle began. Naraku had decapitated him, his face frozen in a never-ending look of terror, mouth agape and eyes wide. Blood soaked his small form, and Naraku had cackled when some of it sloshed onto Kagome. She whimpered at the memory, the pain of losing her baby far worse than any torture Naraku could bestow upon her.

Pain was quickly replaced with unbridled rage, as Kagome recalled how Inuyasha had betrayed them the second he saw Kikyo at Naraku's side. In the matter of a heartbeat he had his hands circled around the dead woman's waist in a loving embrace, ignorant of the fact that she was not the same dead woman he had known months before. Acceptance shown clear on his face, as though he'd finally found the place he truly belonged, with his lover and the kumo-hanyou who'd destroyed lives. As if to further prove his loyalty, he went as far as to spit on the body of her kit, crossing a line with Kagome that would never be forgiven.

Still, the betrayal was to be expected. Each time Inuyasha had visited Kikyo, she had taken a little bit of the truth from him; twisting around his ideas and thoughts to one of which she approved. It was manipulation at its finest, making her thoughts his and her ideas his own. Kagome did have to hand it to the dead woman, Inuyasha respected her farm more than he ever did Kagome. Due to her manipulation, Inuyasha had become more violent, and more of a slave driver than a friend; Kagome had been anticipating his betrayal for quite some time. Still, Kagome could only speculate that Kikyo had undergone similar manipulation by Naraku, because despite her differences with the woman, such things had not been in her nature- manipulating, a power hungry attitude, and advocating war.

Suddenly, blood escaped the confines of her mouth, droplets lightly catching her flushed cheeks as she was shoved forward from a force; a clawed hand tore through the skin of her back, sharp nails feathering against her spinal cord. Breath hitched, Kagome had no voice to scream. Pale and unsteady, Kagome faced her assailant, one of her hands pink with energy as she tried to quickly heal what damage she could.

"Inuyasha," she hissed, pain hindering her words and eyes dangerously slitted. The bastard had reopened multiple wounds she had received from both torture and battle in his attack, and he nearly caused her paralysis. Her eyes regarded the male, hands stained red and his clothing darker than usual. His face was splattered with blood and his pupils were dilated, his sword holding pieces of skin while his hair was cut unevenly. A triumphant grin covered the expanse of his face, almost cynical by the way the corners of his mouth were quirked.

"Kagome," he sounded drunk, as he carried the 'e' a bit longer than normal and his voice was far too lilting, "the fuck are you doing here? You're supposed to be all nice and locked up so that Kikyo can get her soul back. You piece of shit, you escaped didn't you? You worthelss, stupid, fake, sonuva bitch, I should kill you! You're screwing with the plan, you whore!"

"Yeah I escaped, Inuyasha! Your dumbass didn't notice that I've been gone for three days! Three days! This soul is mine, not your whore's."

"Oh that's it, you bitch. Just make this easier for the both of us and die already, Kikyo wants her soul back."

"Her soul? You mean my soul. Have you already forgotten about Tsubaki? Hell, I should've known, you were stupid from the start."

"Screw off, wench! That's Kikyo's soul, and she's not waiting for it any longer!" spit flew from his mouth with his growing anger, and suddenly, he attacked. A clang sounded as their respective swords clashed, a sparks flashing from where the metal had made contact.

Needless to say, Inuyasha had been shocked to find that Kagome had a sword, nonetheless wielded it against him- and she remained standing! After all, the wench was the weakest link in the group, even the brat Shippo could hold his own with his fox magic. Unbeknownst to Inuyasha, Kagome had been secretly been training with Sesshomar. For a year he and Kagome met every night in secrecy, training to the point of utter exhaustion. Through this connection, they began to fully place their trust in one another, and their relationship grew to be a bond unbreakable.

~Flashback~

Kagome trudged through the thick roots and moss that constantly attacked her feet. The foliage was a deep viridian green, courtesy of the bountiful life of the summer. An internal clock rang with the upmost urgency, and Kagome knew she was late. If only she could find the fucking clearing they were meeting in. Alas, amidst the thick leaves and frequent roots, Kagome's eyes spotted the clearing just a few paces from where she was. She stumbled in, though she blamed it on the forest as a last ditch attempt to trip her. Then, looking at the irritated demon of whom she stumbled into, she realized that the forest had been trying to save her from the extremely unhappy man that stood before her, frustration rolling off him in waves.

His amber eyes bore down onto her petite form, allowing his aura to wash over her as to intimidate her and signify his irritation. A slight 'swoosh' through the air emitted as he tossed her a sword, and not even a moment passed before he began his attack. His hits held more force than usual, and Kagome knew that his irritation level was rather high for it to be shown physically. She cringed in response to one of his harder hits, and knew that she was in for hell tonight.

They trained together for hours, the sounds of battle softly emitting from their location within the forest. Just as suddenly as they had began, they ended. With a final bow of respect, Kagome collapsed onto the grassy earth. Her hair was fanned out around her head and was askew, her legs weak and body bruised. Despite this, the young miko had never felt more alive. Face aflush with her exuberance and adrenaline, Kagome allowed a giggle to bubble out of her mouth. A grin set itself broad and bright against her face, as satisfaction flowed through her veins.

Sesshomaru regarded the young woman with interest and warmth. Sesshomaru was nearly certain, but he needed to know if she regarded him in the same manner as he did her,"Kagome." She cocked her chin upwards, neck fully exposed as she looked behind her to see the daiyoukai that stood behind her,"Yes, Sesshomaru?"

"What am I to you?"

Confusion clouded her face for a moment, but she suddenly realized what he was asking," I love you." came her simple response.

Seeing the way his eyes began to harden, projecting his inner emotions, she elaborated,"I love you- like not like I love you 'I love you', but I love you like a brother 'I love you'," Kagome stumbled over her words in hopes of salvaging the relationship she might've ruined with her bluntness. She did indeed love him like a brother, as she cherished him just as she did Souta or Miroku, but he may be under the impression that she had just been trying to cover up for a romantic love in which she had no interest in.

In her rambling state, she had failed to notice that the corner of Sesshomaru's mouth had twitched with amusement. For a moment, he had thought that Kagome had indeed loved him as one would a lover, but as she began to talk he could scent her honesty and embarrassment; even her slight anxiety didn't pass from beneath his nostrils. Since his decision was hardened, he decided that her rambles were greatly amusing. Comedy was a rather swell improvement from the emotions he had just felt. Not that Sesshomaru felt anything.

"Would you do this Sesshomaru the honor of doing a blood bond with me?" amber eyes slid over to where the blubbering woman sat, with a shocked face and mouth frozen in mid-sentence. Once again, confusion clouded her pretty features and her eyebrows furrowed with her blatant confusion,"What's a blood bond?" It was then that Sesshomaru remembered just how limited her knowledge of this era was.

His explanation was but a few minutes long, he a good teacher and Kagome a good student. Even so, the information was a shock to the young miko. In her era, doctors had just began creating things such as GMO's, yet they hadn't gotten to actual living creatures as of yet. But here was an easy simple way to bond the DNA of one organism to another, not nearly as costly or time consuming as that of said scientists. After she finally understood what a blood bond was, and had a fair grasp on what it meant, Kagome was quick to accept Sesshomaru's offer. He was like a brother to her after all.

Taking great care, they ran through the process of a blood bond, not fully investing their energy into it but doing enough so that Kagome could get the point.
Sesshomaru guided her through the motions, and taught her the chant that was essential for the ritual to work. Before they truly began, Sesshomaru drew a circle on his palm, having Kagome copy it on her own mirroring hand. The dress rehearsal took no more than 10 minutes, and without hesitation they began to do the actual show.

With mutual understanding, they began to excrete their energies. Kagome's miko ki and Sesshomaru's youki began to pulsate from their bodies as a wave would grow and recede with the tide, slowly growing until it became a constant hum of energy being emitted from both. Slowly, they began to intertwine their energies as Sesshomaru began to mumble an incantation. Kagome followed with her own. They stood before one another, Kagome mirroring Sesshomaru's motions as they circled with practiced coordination. The chants grew louder as they finally approached one another, and took a knife to each others wrists. With a single, fluid motion, blood seeped from their wrists. A disgusted, albeit knowing look hung onto Kagome's face as they drank each others blood for ten seconds straight, energies overwhelming one another right as the moon reached its peak in the sky.

After what felt like hours, a burning filled their bodies, sudden and strong. Opposite energies clashed as they attempted to find balance inside the one who hosted their opposite energy. The energies were raw and unadulterated in their war, power and pain reaching every crevice of their soul as the energies fought. They settled, finding sweet equilibrium in their hosts. The test was over, and the change came.

Kagome could feel her body changing, and it was a rather sick and strange process to undergo. Her joints popped and skin stretched, her eyes tingled and she could feel something new growing from her body. It was with great anticipation that she grabbed her handy dandy yellow backpack that she refused to leave at any moment in time. She shoved her arm inside and attempted to locate the small reflexive device that she had thrown inside her bag the last time she had returned to her era.

"Ah-ha!" a look of triumph crossed her face as she held her small pink mirror in her hands.

A gasp cut through the night, unrecognition taking over her face as she examined herself with the mirror. Wild mid-back length hair cascaded to her knees, soft and in perfect waves, frizziness gone to be replaced with sweet silkiness. Unruly bangs grew to her chin, forcing her to brush them to the right in hopes of sight. Cheery blue eyes were now detailed with flecks of amber, holding a slight purple quality in certain lights. Her eyelashes had grown long and full, helping accentuate her unique eyes. Plump lips were soft and remained in an 'o' shape as she looked into the mirror. Her body remained the same, although her waist seemed a bit smaller and her hips bigger, and her bra a tad tighter than it had been earlier.

Still her focus returned to that of her face, tattooed and unfamiliar. A blue crescent moon sat against her forehead two blue jagged strikes slashed against either of her cheeks. The stripes were present on her wrists, arms, legs, and feet as well. Two big, fluffy ears adorned the roof of her head, a black tail having sprouted from the tip of her spine, awkwardly pushing out from underneath her leggings and over the waist of said leggings. Her hearing and eyesight had passed it peak, the slightest movement or softest whisper inescapable from her senses now. Acne vanquished, any blemishes having gone from her face. Who was this person in her reflection? And just where did those cute ears come from?

As if remembering something, she stiffly handed the mirror to Sesshomaru, rigged with surprise. He too was shocked in the change of her appearance, though he hadn't anticipated quite a change from his own appearance. Scars that were rough from battle lost their pink tinge as his skin was blemish free. Amber eyes glowed in the light of the moon, sparse blue flecks present in his eyes. Long hair, originally dirty and uncared for, glinted and flowed in the light wind, clean and evidently silky. They would find that he was immune to miko ki, and actually possessed power over some. Kagome noted that they were each a bit taller than before.

A mischievous grin overcame her face, as she turned to Sesshomaru,"Now we're really siblings, Fluffy!" and for the first time in a long time, Sesshomaru smiled.

~Flashback End~

She lightly fingered the bracelet on her wrist, the concealment charm over her demonic abilities and features. It was made of precious gems, and strung on a string made of silver, courtesy of Sesshomaru. Snapping out of her daze once more, Kagome evaded the sword that was aimed for her heart. Even in her musings Kagome was more than aware of the world around her. Having The Killing Perfection for a teacher was a more than adequate of a torture for her to always remain on her senses.

Their fight ended quickly, Kagome the victor. A slick, wet sounded emitted from her sword as she retracted it from Inuyasha's left lung. Before, Kagome had prepared a whole speech for when she had finally killed Inuyasha, but now she felt that silence was enough. There was no need to acknowledge any relationship in the past, but instead to cut ties by leaving him without any form of resolution in his dying moments. Inuyasha lay there gaping at her, his mouth forming words, but none being spoken, a whistling sound escaping from the hole in his chest at his every breath.

Soon, his eyes became dull and lifeless, his chest ceasing its rise and fall, his gurgled gasps silenced. But, Inuyasha had been able to mange to say something to Kagome, three words that she would never forget. Shi motarasu tenshi. Death bringing angel. Inuyasha's dying words, as pitiful as they were. Kagome was impressed that he managed to say something, after all, his body was shutting down and his lungs had to be full of blood. But, that was no matter.

Turning her back to his corpse, Kagome was shot with power, piercing through her like an arrow. Looking to her right, she could see Sesshomaru standing above a broken Kikyo, pieces of clay body her scattered around the clearing and false blood pooling around her form. She nodded in thanks. Then, too soon for Kagome's liking, malicious cackles were heard throughout the battlefield. Turning around, fear in her eyes, Kagome was face-to-face with her worst enemy.

"Hello, dear miko. I hope you haven't missed me too much. Our last encounter was far too short, hm?" he said, grinning from ear to ear, growing wider as he noticed the haunted look that crossed over her eyes in remembrance of the torture, "I hope I haven't instilled any arachnophobia into you, my little bird. But, it appears as though your family was just terrified of spiders. Especially the young one- Souta was it?- his screams were the most pleasurable of the bunch."

Anger and despair filled Kagomes senses as she understood what he meant. He had killed her family, somehow he had been able to reach the only people she thought she could protect in this war. Kagome cursed Inuyasha and Kikyo, Inuyasha had knowledge of her true era and it was no doubt with Kikyo's help that Naraku had been able to travel through the well.

"How-how dare you, you sick bastard! You have no right to speak about my family!" she screamed, attacking Naraku. It was too much, Kagome had lost too many in this battle, and instead of calculating the best way to take Naraku down she jumped into battle blindly. If there was ever a time she was more like Inuyasha, it was now.

He dodged with swift precision, shooting his own tentacles at her chest. She jumped, but one of the tentacles managed to embedded itself into her stomach, hindering her movements. Naraku tossed her off his tentacle, adding some miasma in the air to weaken her attacks. Falling through the air Kagome made a risky decision, fall to her death or turn into a demon blowing her cover and endangering herself in the process. Kagome had no clue what the poison Naraku had injected her with would do to her in her demon form, but with the earth fast approaching she came to an answer.

Kagome slid the concealment bracelet from her wrist, roaring as she turned to face Naraku. The second her feet touched the ground did she catapult herself to Naraku, whom looked in surprise at the woman he had known as ningen as she tore his body to shreds. He felt no concern, however, seeing as his heart remained safe with his obedient minions. Instead of fighting, he only laughed at Kagome's frantic state of anger, destroying his body as though it would do any good with his regenerative qualities.

Looking at Naraku in disgust, she purified his remains, only his head remained in tact following her attack, "How funny, Kagome. As if destroying my body could stop me."

Just as he began to reassemble himself, did Kagome give the signal to Kagura. The second she did, did Kagura stab Naraku's heart. Naraku's amusement quickly became pain, and he cursed as his head began to deteriorate. Kagome stole the shikon from him and purified it, but just before he died did he begin laughing- as if remembering something. His cackles were loud and obnoxious, just until he was completely gone did they stop- but a scream filled its place. Naraku, the bastard, had somehow intertwined Kagura's heart with his own, because the second he was dead did she start to die, falling from where she stood.

Sesshomaru rushed over, too late to catch her as she fell. He attempted to save her with Tensaiga, but the blasted sword remained unresponsive in his despair. Kagura glowed red, becoming sweet scented wind, not without their final exchange of 'I love you's'. His howl of grief was heard throughout the lands, saddening all who heard its sorrowful sound. He had lost his daughter, and now, his only love.

Kagome collapsed onto her knees, the sorrow of her brother and the deaths comrades affecting her in a way she could not bear. In a final act of spite against Naraku, she grabbed the pieces of the Shikon no Tama and merged them together into a single pure orb. In the lightest of whispers, she said,"I wish the Shikon no Tama was gone from this world- forever!" A bright flash of light enveloped her before she disappeared into nothingness.
