"Hey Mittens! Come take a look at this!" Bolt exclaimed, jumping around.
"What now?" Mittens asked irritably. She had played with Bolt all day, teaching him how to be a 'proper dog'.
"What is this?" He asked staring at something that looked like a moving dot.
Mittens rolled her eyes. "It's a beetle, Bolt," she sighed.
Bolt widened his eyes and growled. "Did Calico send this to spy on us so he can report back to him about our weaknesses and then Calico will destroy us and-''
"Bolt I don't have time for this!" Mittens interrupted impatiently. "I've been suffering like this all day, answering your stupid questions that even pups know."
Bolt thought about it for a second. "It's actually just ten minutes," he corrected.
"TEN MINUTES IS ENOUGH!" Mittens screamed. "NOW LEAVE ME ALONE! GOSH."
Bolt flattened his ears, kept his chin up, sweeped the beetle away with his paw, then padded farther into the yard, exploring. Suddenly he caught sight of something.
"Hey Mittens what's this?" He asked, eyeing a worm. Mittens sighed and tried ignoring him, but questions kept on coming.
"Is this a threat?"
"This looks like Calico's doing. What do you think?"
"What is this… thing?"
"…Mittens you know that the longer you ignore me the more questions you'll get."
Mittens spun around and screeched, "FOR THE LOVE OF PETE I CAN DO WHATEVER I WANT!"
Bolt whimpered, then asked, "Soo… what's a beetle again?"
The black and white cat did a face-paw and sighed. "Bolt, why can't you be like the other dogs, huh?" she hissed, annoyance gleaming in her green eyes. Her tail tip twitched impatiently. "I think Penny spoiled you too much. You don't even know what a worm is. Or a stick. Or a beetle. Or a leaf. Or- Yeah. You get it. Just go along, have fun, and leave me and peace! Can't you go a day without asking questions?"
Bolt scratched his neck. "Oh uh… sorry Mittens. I'll just uh.. go play. By myself. All alone. Without anyone to play with."
"Uh huh…" Mittens muttered, not paying attention and studying her claws.
"But I'll be alone!" Bolt complained.
"Yeah yeah, we've already established that fact."
Bolt slowly padded off, his tail trailing in the grass.
Mittens bounded inside Bolt's house and stretched in the beam of sunlight. She clawed at her soft bed and curled up, murmuring, "finally some time to spend in the sun."
…But that was before Rhino asked, "hey Mittens can you play with me?"
