"Phew! We got here in time. Looks like McGonagall's not here yet." Ron Weasley exclaimed with relief as he hunched down with his hands on his knees, panting from running through the corridors.
It was their first Transfiguration period for their first year and Harry Potter, the celebrity of the wizarding world was pleased to see that he had not given another teacher a reason to torment him. Professor Snape was enough for that, even though Harry didn't technically give him a reason. It was probably one of those 'hate-at-first-sight' things anyways…
"Eh? What's a cat doing here?" He remarked, mostly to himself, seeing the cat with grey fur and black markings around her eyes sitting rigidly on the professor's desk, eyes moving to every corner of the classroom.
Carefully, Harry moved towards the cat until he was right next to her. Seeing that the cat showed no intentions of biting and/or scratching him, he lowered his hand on her head. As expected, the fur was soft and warm under his hand and the cat relaxed a bit, slipping out of her extremely uncomfortable-looking position. Harry moved his hands to behind the cat's ears, massaging them.
Cats' loved ear massages. If there was one thing Harry had learned while at Mrs. Figg's house, it was that. The cat sitting on the desk lowered down even more, her eyes shutting close out of bliss. A deep purring sound started to emerge from her throat, sending vibrations up Harry's arms.
Harry chuckled. He may not have liked cats much, but he loved animals. They were the only things close to friends Harry had while growing up. He slid his hand under the cat's chin and started to move his hand back and forth. The purring only increased and her head lifted up, exposing her chin to Harry fully.
"Wonder why the professor's not here yet. It's already been a quarter of an hour since the period's started." Hermione Granger mused, her chocolate brown eyes filled with confusion, "I don't think it's a good example for the students…"
As on cue, the cat's eyes quickly snapped open, a bit of panic making its way into her eyes which were filled with bliss. They quickly snapped shut again as Harry touched a particular spot just behind her ears that made her feel like she was on cloud nine.
'Students, Minerva, think about the students! What will they think if –Ah! That felt good… No wait! Reputation, reputation! What about your reputation if the other students and teachers find out? Aaah… That feels nice… It's been a while since I got an ear massage…' And those were just some of the thoughts running around in the professor-turned-cat.
Deciding that he had had enough for now, Harry made his way towards the last empty seat in the classroom, set his bag down on a side of the desk and sat down, making himself comfortable.
"Meow…" He heard a particularly whiny meow coming from the cat now sitting near his desk, looking at him with accusing green eyes. He patted the empty space on the desk in front of him and the cat quickly hopped onto his desk, not missing a second. He chuckled again and started to massage the cat in front of him, smiling as she curled up into a furry ball and went to sleep, purring.
Needless to say, the rest of their period was free. And when the students from the upper years heard about that from some confused first years, they promptly burst into uncontrollable laughter, unable to explain why they were laughing to puzzled eleven year olds. It was all explained when the Weasley twins got news about that and made an impressive illusion to appear in the Great Hall at dinner about the whole Transfiguration period.
It took a lot of detentions and house points for Minerva to not have students trying to hold in their laughter whenever they saw her. Harry and Minerva couldn't look into each other's eyes for the whole semester after that…
*The End*
